🌸🌼 My meditation practice started in 2020 as a desperate attempt to find peace within. I was anxious, depressed, and lost in a world of constant distraction from my self. I downloaded @insighttimer and made a promise to myself that I’d meditate every day. It was grueling at first, but I noticed subtle shifts in the way I responded to things instead of reacting from my subconscious patterns. I became conscious of all the ways I was sabotaging my mental well-being. In learning how to sit with my feelings instead of pushing them away, I was called to start over, to literally move to an island where I knew no one in order to know the authentic me.

6 years, 44,000+ minutes of meditation, and I can finally say I feel more in love with life than I ever have been. I can truly feel bliss coursing through my veins just sitting in nature and noticing all the beauty this world has to offer 🩷

In these 6 years I’ve had the honor of introducing many people to meditation and I hope this sparks a little glimmer in you if you’re yearning for something that will help you feel a little lighter. @insighttimer I love you 🌸💓🌺 taken in Ku'au Bay by @kristinastuff

A little slice of Hana magic ✨ There’s something special about being in the most remote part of the world’s most isolated archipelago. The air feels lighter, my mind feels clearer, and my soul is filled with a sense of peace I’ve never been able to find elsewhere. Grateful, lucky, and humbled doesn’t even begin to describe how it feels to live on this island 🩷

Tucked along Hana Highway, Ke'ane Arboretum feels like walking into a magical fairy forest 🧚🏼‍♀️✨ Moss & pothos climb the trunks of kukui, koa, and palm trees. The eucalyptus make rainbows 💚🧡💜 and mushrooms create tiny luxury condo complexes for fairies 🧚‍♂️

This land carries deep cultural weight in ancient Hawaiian tradition. Ke'ane sits on one of the last great lo'i kalo systems in Hawai’i, where taro has been cultivated in flooded terraces for generations using methods passed down since pre-contact times. In Hawaiian tradition, kalo is an elder sibling to the Hawaiian people, born from the union of Wākea (sky father) and Ho’ohōkūkalani, whose first child was stillborn and became the kalo plant and whose second child became the first Hawaiian person. To grow kalo is to care for family.

Families on the Ke'ane Peninsula still farm these terraces today, carrying that lineage forward as both livelihood and culture responsibility. Walking through the arboretum is walking through a place that has fed and grounded generations for over a thousand years.

E mālama i ka ‘āina. Care for the land. It is not ours. It never was. We are only passing through 💚
