Hi, I’m Kyla!

At just 16, I became a mom, and for many, that felt like the closing the chapter of my story. But deep down, I knew it was merely the prologue.

People projected their doubts, warning me of what I couldn’t do and urging me to fall in line with the system. Yet, I chose to get connected to myself and allow my body to lead me, shifting my paradigm.

My path has been anything but straightforward or easy. From navigating the oil industry to establishing @kpsquared.inc, North America’s largest 24-hour childcare empire, I’ve faced countless roadblocks and barriers.

There were challenges that felt insurmountable, including a battle with the government that threatened to silence me for creating a service my community so desperately needed. Instead of retreating, I stood firm in myself and the vision and fought back.

Not only did I persevere, but my team and I also co-authored the law that made 24-hour childcare accessible for all.

Today, my mission is to empower other women to get connected with themselves, step into their strength, build their version of success, support their families, and lead with courage and conviction.

Whether you're just embarking on your journey or overcoming your own tribulations, remember this: you were created with purpose, for so much more than you realize.

Let’s rewrite the narrative together, build capacity in ourselves while offering the space for a future where EVERY woman can thrive.

Men are not seers.

They are not biogenetically created to be seers like women are.

Nor can they create from a space of chaos. Men try to fix the chaos when the chaos is not there to be fixed.

We’re able to pivot, move, adapt, and create from the chaos within the abyss of the unknown.

We’re able to do this because we see and accept when what we’re being led to doesn’t make sense, because our sensing understands the language of the unknown when we surrender to it. Something not to be fixed but to be received, to be felt, and to be led by - only feminine surrender can do this.

But men can witness this magic that occurs in the field of a woman, and they can receive the wisdom and abundance that comes through a woman that thrives through and with the unknown when their ego isn’t in the way and when they have reverence for womanhood.

My husband has witnessed the proof of what my ability to see has provided for our family, and because of this, he has unwavering trust.

The ranch that we now live in, my husband never saw before the decision to purchase it was made. He never saw the land.

We moved through this big process of relocating our family from the other side of the province, starting a new life in this new space, doing new things we never did - he just trusted. And when he set foot on the land for the first time, all he could do was look at me, hug me, and said, “Wow, good job babe.”

Yes - it is my job to be the seer, the matriarch of my family.

This is going to happen again, and because the evidence of my relationship with the darkness and chaos of beginnings has been steadfast - he will continue to allow me to lead us through the unknown as the seer of my family.

He doesn’t need to make the final decision. He doesn’t let ego get in the way.

He sees how I align to my own standards and respects it. He sees the depth of my integrity and stabilizes in it. He trusts me because I trust myself.

I see through the unknown. He sees me. This is why we thrive as a team. by @kylampenner

Ever since I faced my fear of being alone, I grew this appreciation for myself around how abundantly I can fill myself and my life up.

This is why my marriage thrives.

My man gets all of Kyla Penner because I first learned how to hold all of myself.

I stopped feeling guilty for being too much of me, for taking up too much space, for being too empowered, for believing too deeply in my dreams and my vision.

I stopped feeling scared of being left because of who I am and how I am and started receiving signs from life that who I am and how I am is exactly what I need to embody and express to create the most abundant reality and loving home.

And he too began to evolve when I began to choose myself on deeper levels. He evolved into the man that could hold it.

So let me tell you what’s required of a man that wants a woman who embodies all of her power..

He needs to have faced all of his insecurities head on, to have a healthy relationship with his ego - one that’s preferably been through a revolution that has led him to dismantle any ties to the illusion of patriarchy.

Because my husband has done this work, he is able to receive all of me. Because he receives all of me, he reaps all the fruits and benefits from the well I pour into.

He embodies security because he’s able to hold his understanding around masculinity on his own, while standing next to my power.

But the secret key to this topic is that he holds the ability to be led by his woman while remaining open to his growth. This is because he was curious enough to lean into me after dismantling his own unhealthy views around masculinity. And when he leaned in, he began to understand my relationship with the unknown and my ability to manifest unimaginable timelines from that place with confidence.

And the more he stood in his own confidence, the more he opened up, the more space I took up, and the more our family thrived and expanded in the most beautiful ways and continue to do so.

There is no one else for me. I am grateful beyond words that I have a man that can hold me and walk beside me as I continue to decide that I am a woman that embodies and lives by all of her power 🙌🏼 by @kylampenner

I guess the world decided that women anchored in clarity and certainty aren’t feminine.

We’ve been sold a lie that women PRETENDING not to know or see for the sake of letting a man lead her instead of her own intuition leading her is feminine.

IN WHOSE WORLD?

It’s time we look this lie straight in the face and change the narrative.

It’s time we stop pretending we’re not seeing or hearing this.

Yes, a woman anchored in certainty can come off as hard - because she’s not wavering. But hard for who? The person that doesn’t want to own up to their shadows, their responsibilities, an actual standard?

You’ve been told that being the one who makes the decisions, who takes the lead, is not feminine, but in fact, that is THE MATRIARCH.

Being in a Matriarch is the most feminine space you can sit in. You lead and you love. You embody motherly nature and you make tough decisions.

Dancing in a flowy dress and speaking in a soft voice is not the definition of feminine.

Making women believe that to be feminine is to be submissive, to surrender to and follow the masculine, to trust his guidance instead of her intuitive voice is a tactic used to separate women from their feminine power.

When I observe women that live in that space, what I see is a woman that does not want to be accountable for her life.

A woman wanting a man to stand in awareness and accountability so that they can surrender to the man’s guidance is not valid.

For women to truly integrate the true definition of the feminine, they must first integrate their fear of being alone.

You need to be ok with being all of you;
Too much
Too loud
Too expressed
Too powerful
Too certain
Too confident
Too discerning
Too loving
Too honest

And being rejected by the man who does not have reverence for the feminine, so that you can be loved by the man who does.

A truth seer who does not hold back - that is what I know the feminine to be.

Everything else is an illusion to strip you away from her. by @kylampenner

My business made 5.5 million dollars in revenue last year.

Ask me 5 years ago if I would have been able to hold that, much less move right through it with ease. I wouldn’t even have believed that what I do could generate that much money.

The lessons I had to learn based on the decisions I made are what allow me to hold what I hold today and then some, but there are processes - OH, THERE ARE PROCESSES!!

And there needs to be a level of acceptance of what you are supposed to learn in the processes you walk through in life, the initiations you have to cross to get to where you are called to be.

This is part of leaning into the unknown.

There are things that did not make sense to me three years ago that made me think, “Did that decision come from my intuition or not, because what I’m going through is rough!”

Now I look back and see how those “rough” processes served me in such a way that if I hadn’t experienced them, I would not have been able to show up today in the way that I do.

The difficult processes I navigated provided me with:
The tools and strategies that I needed to build what I’m building out today
The capacity to hold it all and keep going while calling in more
The skills from which I move in my business

The hard things I’m doing today are felt with more ease based on the intuitive decisions I made before.

If I were to know today how horrible some of the things I had to move through to get to where I am today would be - would I still have made the decisions I made?

Maybe not. I know most wouldn’t.

But I made them because they were intuitive, and I know that nothing but blessings come from an intuitive decision.

There’s nothing like being where you’re meant to be, and I wouldn’t change it for the world - difficult or not. by @kylampenner

Women feel a lot of shame for changing their minds.

And I hate that.

Because we are created to expand and explore and shift what we desire based on what is entering our field.

What I was a frequency match for last year, when I first had the thought of these desires, may be different than the frequency that I am setting today based on my own growth and pivots and paradigm shifts.

I am open to the knowing and belief that life is here to work for us and not against us.

This is why I do not get caught up in the outcome or obtaining the exact way my ego thinks my dreams should unfold. I will not be limited in a way where I cannot see or receive opportunities that promote my expansion.

The societal pressure that we live under has everything regimented and planned. I have never and will never drill this into my kids. I hate it when 12-year-olds are asked: “What’re you going to do when you grow up?”

The conversations I’m having with my 13-year-old daughter are: “What kind of life do you desire?” “How do you want to feel?” “What are some things that you think will get you closer to that vision?”

This is me prepping my daughter for her process. I want her to know that how she feels today may shift years from now based on things that have come into her field, but if she has an understanding and some level of clarity of what kind of life she wants to create, while releasing the outcome of how to get there, she will receive the nudges and the steps to arrive successfully.

My daughter will not feel pressure to be stagnant and linear. Instead, she will feel inspired and empowered to dance with endings and beginnings, pivots and transitions so that she can continue to thrive through curiosity and creativity. by @kylampenner

*What I focus on when it comes to my children’s future*

My daughter and I talk constantly about the life she wants to live, the life she wants to experience, and how she wants to feel about her life.

We don’t focus on titles or acquisitions in my household when it comes to my children’s future. We focus on their fulfillment.

My responsibility as a mother is to ask myself, “What are we doing to prepare you for these experiences?” Part of that as a mother is to find ways for my legacy to support her in her path. So I find ways to provide her with experiences that connect her to the way she wants to feel so that she can begin to get curious and creative with the life that she wants to live.

This feeds both of our souls.

I invite you to do the same when connecting with your child and replace the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” with “how do you want to feel?” by @kylampenner

Our family system is not something for us to hold and control.

My mother is not MINE.
My partner is not MINE.
My child is not MINE.

Our family members were not designed to have personalities, traits, and interests that please us - they were designed to be individuals.

And if you’re a smart woman - which I know you are - you’d be learning how to enrich and nourish your family system so that it can work for everyone, so that everyone can thrive.

Because what woman wouldn’t be filled with love, gratitude, and joy in seeing her family thrive?!
I’m proud to say that I have healthy relationships with the individuals in my family, and it’s because I see and respect them as individuals, separate from me.

Together but separate.

Everything that comes with togetherness in a family system- safety, support, respect, connection, presence, effort, memories - while honoring the fact that we are also separate individuals who have the right to their own life path.

I know that the success in my life, relationships, family, and career came in part because of this understanding I have.

Even in my business, KP Squared, we respect the children under our care as individuals and do not believe in generalized care or support.

In fact, KP Squared has thrived because we see family units as individual, unique expressions of different families, and we see the children as little individuals who can only thrive when they are seen and supported as such.

If you want to see a loved one thrive, respect and empower their individuality.

You won’t be disappointed. by @kylampenner

My relationship with difficulty and success is the way it is because I chose the story, I chose the paradigm - and then I collected the evidence to back it up.

There’s a difference between push and resistance and difficulty.

If I’m constantly pushing and pushing and pushing and I’m met with consistent resistance, even within myself, then something is not aligned.

But there’s such a fine line between experiencing processes of refinement when you’re following your intuition and just bluntly going the wrong way and the universe trying to redirect you.
In the beginning, when people are trying to walk their path, they sometimes hold onto the outcome and how they believe every step should look. And because of this, they miss so many milestones and opportunities.

Listen, I understand. I also want what I want, and then something comes into my field because I’ve been open and expansive to releasing what the outcome looks like. And then I’m delivered an opportunity to something I didn’t even know I could have based on the limitations of my own mind.

There are things I’m certain I want. How I’m going to get these things, when and where it’s going to happen, and what exactly it’s going to look like - I can’t and will not pinpoint because I don’t want to limit myself in the process of opportunity.

I can say I want something in specific, but who’s to say that I can’t get something way above what I can imagine for myself.

Am I limiting myself from the expansion by honing in on that complete outcome without negotiation?

I need to release the expectation that limits the opportunity from entering my field.

I need to visualize how I want my body to feel in that space and ride that journey.

Because if I’m walking through a place and feel the feeling I want to feel - yet notice that this feeling isn’t coming from what I imagined it would come from I can be confused, or I can understand that the intuitive desire that I acted on actually led me to the thing that was actually meant for me.

We, women, need to learn how to walk through the land of opportunity.

Are you with me here? by @kylampenner

Do you have a pattern of believing that something isn’t aligned when it’s difficult?

Since when were we sold this lie that things aren’t for us because it’s hard?

All super magical things come from hardship, hard work, and a complicated process.

Nobody ever said growth was supposed to be really easy because if it was, then the whole entire human race would be floating through the earth with ease at all times.

There’s a reason most people have surrendered to living robotically, submissively, to systems that don’t support their ability to thrive, be free, and create without limitations or hesitation.

Because it’s difficult.

Climbing your mountain is a journey. It’s tricky. It’s hard. It’s inspiring. It’s tiring. It’s exciting.

And most people don’t believe they can do it.

Here’s an important reflection as you walk your own success journey: “Do I run away every time shit gets hard?”

Because if you do, then you’re succumbing to victimhood and not wanting to do the hard work.

Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in your head when it gets hard. Learn how to come back to your body to feel the difficult emotions and process the resistance you feel.

Learn how to accept and embrace the journey when you make the choice.

We need to stop steering away from hardship and view it from a different paradigm.

I’ve moved through hard, chaotic experiences in my life, and sometimes life still drops in some of these experiences to awaken deeper, more refined levels of willpower within me. And here’s the thing - if it was super easy, where I felt like I wasn’t discovering new pieces of myself, of understanding new layers of what I was doing, I would question it.

I’m not looking for things to be hard; I’m simply looking for the continuation of my unraveling.

There are more powerful, beautiful, awe-inspiring layers of who you are too.

Let the difficulties on your soul’s path be the tool you use to uncover those gems. by @kylampenner

I became a mother at the age of 16.

I could’ve used this as an excuse to stay stuck.

But instead, my success stemmed from this. I leaned so heavily into the unknown, knowing that I was so committed to myself. I knew I had to finish my high school education in order to be able to move in this world.

I moved to a new city on my own.
I took the city bus two and a half hours to school.

It was the only school in all of Alberta that supported teen moms.

None of it was ideal.

But it was necessary because I was being led to do big things in my life.

I needed to experience all the things I experienced. I always made really risky decisions. Not reckless. Risky.

This was on the account that I was being led by a piece of uncertainty that I couldn’t name. I just knew I was being called to it.

This is where I took my first leap into the unknown, as a teenage mom who knew she had to follow that inner intuition no matter what. It felt scary, of course - but there was no other choice for me, and because of that, it was easy to choose.

If you’re standing at a crossroads, notice which path gives you life and activates your confidence and which drains you and roots you in comfort.

Decisions aren’t difficult. It’s just the fear that’s difficult. And some people would rather remain drained and void of life than feel the fear that activates the aliveness they so desire.

Befriend the fear and take the leap.

Fear doesn’t need to leave; you just need to learn how to get comfortable with it. by @kylampenner

Listen - I don’t know how many of you reading this have adult children, but when you have adult children, and they want to spend time with you, IT MEANS SOMETHING, IT MEANS EVERYTHING. It feels different.

I always came with the knowing as a mom that I can’t base my quality time with my child on my interests.

Creating a meaningful connection with my son stemmed from my showing him that he could share his interests with me from an early age. This is a foundational piece around how we spent time together because it created a true mother-son connection.

Yes, we had non-negotiable activities and events that cultivated values and integrity within him, that nourished his understanding of what responsibility looked like - and some of these looked as simple as Sunday family dinners.

Now the practices we had as non-negotiables are things that allow my son to thrive.

Now my son seeks out true, genuine connection with me, and I can’t tell you how grateful and proud I am because of this. It’s not about approval; it’s about connection.

It’s like, wow - I did something right in this relationship.

And that something right was - instead of enforcing on him what I needed him to be, I respected his individuality while simultaneously instilling the values and principles that allowed him to be a man of integrity.

My son doesn’t live in fear of me not approving of something. If he makes choices or moves in his life and I share my own opinion, it wouldn’t make him feel guilty. Because how I think and how I support are two different things.

I won’t bail my son out of lessons that have the potential to provide him with evolution and growth, but I will be the strongest pillar of support for him.

Me saying no isn’t associated with his self-worth or our relationship. He knows that if I say no, it’s because a lesson needs to be learned but it doesn’t change the structure of our relationship, how I feel about him, or how we move through life together - and it’s always been like that ever since he was little.

This is conscious and intentional parenting.

Our long-term relationship with our children is one of the most important treasures in our lives.

Let’s act like it. by @kylampenner
