We're incredibly proud to have played a part in helping bring Dan home 💜

Last night, the DIY SOS episode featuring Lanes Group aired, sharing the story of 16-year-old Dan from Freckleton, Lancashire.

Dan's return home followed a long journey. After undergoing surgery for a brain tumour, he was left with complex care needs and had been staying in hospital while adaptations were made to his family home. The changes were needed to ensure he could safely receive the specialist ventilation support he requires overnight.

Working alongside volunteers and other organisations, our team supported the project to help make Dan's return home possible. A special mention goes to Luke Bell and Gareth Tuson, who carried out the drainage survey, and Megan Nickalls and Vicky Smith, who helped coordinate Lanes' involvement in the project.

For those involved, it was a day they'll never forget. As Vicky said:
"It was incredibly moving to see Dan come home and know that Lanes had contributed to such a special project. It's a moment that will stay with me for a long time.”

A huge well done to everyone who played a part in this incredible project. We're proud to have supported something that will make such a difference to Dan and his family.

Meet Colleague 5,000!

As Lanes Group celebrates reaching 5,000 colleagues, we'd like to introduce Ryan Hurley, who recently joined our Group CCTV team as a Business Administrator Apprentice based in Manchester.

Ryan became our 5,000th colleague, making his first week at Lanes one he'll never forget! To celebrate, he received a special Colleague 5,000 gift pack filled with personalised goodies.

When asked what it meant to be colleague number 5,000, Ryan said:
"It's really exciting to be colleague number 5,000. I was already excited to get the job, but then being told I was the 5,000th colleague and being given a gift made it even more special. It's something I'll definitely remember."

Ryan joins our Group CCTV team, supporting projects and depots across the business through CCTV survey data, mapping information and technical reporting.

His manager, Vicky Wilde, said:
"Ryan has been a pleasure to deal with throughout the interview process. He is polite, well-mannered and eager to learn, and we're really pleased to welcome him to Lanes Group as our 5,000th colleague."

The team recently supported Taylor Woodrow at @manairportuk, carrying out a full drainage clean and CCTV survey within an airport car park as part of ongoing improvement works.

Working closely with the wider project team, our crews helped ensure the drainage network was thoroughly cleaned and surveyed, providing valuable insight into the condition of the system and supporting future works on site.

We're also pleased to share some fantastic feedback received from the project team:

Penwortham St Teresa’s U8 Reds have received £1,000 in sponsorship through the Lanes Community Fund.

The fund has been awarded to help support the team throughout the 2026/27 football season.

This support will benefit the team’s nine young players, helping them continue to enjoy football and develop their skills as part of their local community.

Finalists in the British Training Awards 2026!

We’re proud to share that Lanes Group has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 British Training Awards.

Leader of the Year – Laura Maguire, Head of Learning and Development at Lanes Group.
Innovation of the Year – Lanes Group, a special thank you to James Brewer, who led the project enabling us to utilise Samsara for company toolbox talks.

The awards recognise organisations and individuals driving excellence in learning, development, and workplace innovation across the UK.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 15th July.

That’s a wrap on UK Construction Week 2025!

We had an incredible few days at the NEC, showcasing our state-of-the-art JetVac and CCTV vehicles and connecting with other industry professionals.

Our JetVac stole the show, with numerous visitors enjoying photo opportunities in the cab (Emma Fletcher MRICS - pictured).

Chris and Ethan of the CCTV team provided demonstrations and explanations of the CCTV systems, offering insight into how our advanced technology can help identify drainage issues before they become a significant problem.
