She lives!!!
Hi friends! Here’s a soft update on where I’ve been at the past few months.. I feel like I turned the corner only a week ago, and am out of the worst of it, but it’s a long road ahead. (Taking things slow has never been much fun to me, but I’m learning to appreciate the benefits of going slow, living in the discomfort of not-knowing, and overcoming my fears. It has been intense, to say the least. ❤️‍🩹

I’m slowly returning to a more active schedule, and a gradual return to art-making and tattoo-work. I’m not in a place to be receiving any project requests or client inquiries yet, so please refrain from sending me messages. Thank you!

Hi friends ❤️‍🩹
Wow.. to me it legit feels like I posted the previous Tooth-Story reel only yesterday. It’s bizarre to try and process that a full month has passed out in the real world. For me, time has only been the “Now” and “Not Now”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On May 15th I underwent urgent oral-maxillofacial surgery to extract a number of teeth that had undergone trauma from my accident back in 2021. After 2.5 years of specialist visits, undergoing multiple treatments to try and save my teeth while mitigating pain, my poor broken teeth and upper jaw were now infected and going nuclear in my face. Suddenly my entire treatment plan changed. 🤯
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I expected one surgery, with 3-5 days of gentle recovery before returning to life/work as I knew it. Instead, I underwent 3 separate surgeries in less than a month and have experienced additional/amplified other health concerns (but that’s a story for another time). Eventually I will have a dazzling Hollywood smile, but for now get used to me as a vampire/baby shark 🦷

My intention was to have fundraising art/merchandise available shortly after my first surgery, but focussing on my health and recovery has taken priority. As it should. Tattoo clients have been notified of appointment cancelations for the time being, and the studio remains closed while I am away. When I have the energy/capacity I will address official correspondence from @folk.lore.tattoo (What a wild time to have launched a new business!) I haven’t had the capacity to post on social media or update my websites; everything seems to be on pause for now. Granted, it’s not like I process time in a linear fashion anyways 🤘

Everything has been happening quite quickly/strangely for me. These are events and circumstances beyond my control, and I’m grateful for your continued patience, compassion and understanding. 🌈

Hi friends ❤️‍🩹
For those who don’t know, I experienced a severe head trauma back in October 2021 resulting in brain injury as well as dental/facial trauma. I have continued severe daily pain, and have been in and out of medical and dental care over the past 2.5 years while working with a large care team including: my GP, cardiologist, neurologist, complex concussion clinic, sports medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, general dentistry, endodontist, and prosthodontist.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On Wednesday (in two days) I will be adding oral/maxilofacial surgery to the list, as I am being sent in for urgent extractions due to infection in my teeth and facial bones.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been through multiple treatments over the past 2 years, while paying for all medical bills out of pocket (insurance is inaccessible; that’s a story for another time) and so I am reaching out to the community for help on the journey ahead. I have been quoted upwards of $20K for the new treatment plan (ooooof) 🦷❤️‍🩹

Friends encouraged me to start a GoFundMe… but that isn’t my style. Instead, I am working on a fundraising plan through sharing my art. I will have more details and posts to share over the course of the journey, but for now I wanted to drop a quick life update.

I haven’t had the capacity to post on social media, and tattoo clients at @folk.lore.tattoo with recent appointments have also received notice to reschedule (I will get to this after my initial recovery days). Welcome to the family, Socks!
I’m so grateful for the amount of joy this little bundle of fur has already brought about. In addition to her sweet nature she has also taken to some of Sophie and Lucy’s old things, helping to ease the grief of their passing. Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet and spicy girl Luce. Lucy, Lucifer, Loose Cannon, Silly Goose, aka our little Maniac. She was a whole lot of love and a whole lot of dog in one wiggly floofy package. She had the most strikingly intelligent eyes and an incessant need for snuggles. She taught us so much more about patience, compassion and unconditional love. Hope she’s chasing all the magpies and squirrels she wants over that rainbow bridge. Rest easy good girl, we love you. by @larissapoho

Today we said goodbye to the sweetest soul. Sophie, Soph, Soap, Floof, Shove-Butt, The Dogtor, Doctor Dog, Smiley, and so many other names. Grateful to have had so many wonderful adventures, and for the many lessons learned just by sharing space with this incredible creature. She introduced me to the joys of the river valley, and joined me in countless theatre and dance rehearsals. She was there with me through surgeries and recovery. She was relentless with her smooches, and the greatest cuddle bug. Today has rocked our world. There aren’t enough words to express how much she meant to us. We love you sweet old girl, rest easy. ❤️‍🩹 by @larissapoho
