Really enjoyed visiting @library_vic whilst in Melbourne and seeing the Make Believe: Encounters with Misinformation exhibition. And because most of my pals are not in Melbourne, here are a few photos from it.

Initially, I was a bit confused because, walking in, it all felt very tech but the case studies were not. It was a great example of showing how misinformation has existed before computers and social media were prevalent, and how false narratives can exist in unexpected places.

My favourite was unsurprisingly Case study 3: anatomy, biases and understanding the clit0ris. I knew the story, roughly, on the discovery of the true shape of the clit0ris and how it was a relatively new discovery. But the videos of Professor Helen O’Connell and Dr Jennifer Hayes, and hearing about their fight for accuracy in women’s health was something else. Notes scribbled in disbelief at the dismissal and misogyny was fantastic to see.

I also really enjoyed @coffinbirth’s exploration into the Shell’s depictions of Australia in its advertising during the 50s and 60s. The depth of the misinformation marketing campaign, the erasing of so much truth - indigenous aboriginal people and the true effects of fossil fuels, all explored and challenged. I loved the contrasts of the two large images reflecting each other, both challenging the original narrative. And those blakfaries! The photos don’t do it justice but those pieces were huge and so detailed.

The exhibition is on until 26 January. But, if like most of my pals, you’re unlikely to find yourself in Australia any time soon there is a lot of really in-depth info about the exhibition on @library_vic website.

Spent the day at @electricbham for a triple bill of @flatpackfestival films and remembered to record a little of it enough to make a quick reel.

This is Our World, Help Look After It.

Spotted this on a walk round Kings Norton and Druids Heath at the weekend. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing of the boxes I’ve seen decorated but it got its point across.

Made my first ever Christmas wreath tonight, thanks to @inbloomflowers.studio and @colmorebusinessdistrict.

It’s a little wonky but rustic and full of delicious greenery - I love it. It’s not staying with me for long though, I’m giving it to my mum for her front door so it can bring a few more people cheer.

That’s two of the always-wanted-to-do-that crafts done in the last two months. Excited to see what might come next!

All the pieces are assembled, now I just have to glue them all together…why is this bit always the most stressful?!

I’ve really enjoyed making the @molliemakes cover craft of @thehandmadeflorist’s autumn wreath. And just in time for the Winter Make Series, which will arrive any day now!

Dried dahlias - they’re not as pretty as the fresh version but I like how they retain the sort of pom pom look.

These are dahlias I picked up from @wefarmflowers and left to dry. I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, but they’re too full of colour and fun to throw out.

I’ve been drying blooms since last year, when I swapped my bus pass to a flower allowance as we couldn’t really go anywhere. It felt a shame to throw out the flowers and with a bit of string and hanging them upside down for a couple of weeks, I’m managed to get a good few month enjoyment out of some of them.

Last night I was up late working on a project, because my brain works better at night. Libby decided to help by commandeering the lid of my very-important-work pen. I slayed spreadsheets, Libby slayed a rainbow pom pom.

Very pleased with this @irnbru themed card for @heidasaur’s birthday.

Took a whilst to track down the right fonts and design. Had to play around to get the font the right balance of shape without looking stretched - way more fiddly than you’d think. But my trusty @officialcricut_uk cut them out perfectly. Card stock and a handy paper-punch to round the edges from @hobbycrafthq. But very pleased with the outcome!
