A look back at some August highlights! 🌙✨

Several trips to London to hang with friends, exhibitions, final dim sum at our fave Brum spot as the owners finally retired, HK French toast, movie nights, deliveroulette and ALL the meats at KBBQ (my dad was happy, I promise 😂).

It’s been a good one, and now I’m ready for cosy Autumn vibes! 🍁

Before we get too far into July, here’s a few snaps from the June. 😎

Mostly starting with a lot of Berocca ahead of design fest (honestly made such a difference 😌), mad sausage themed birthday parties, sweet @ladureeuk treats from @haileyn89, hanging out with pals at BDF, Deliveroulette and a huge Costco birthday cake for Amanda, stickers from Japan (thanks @mulan288!), dinners and dim sum with family visiting from HK, a spot of shopping at @bicestervillage, seeing @thornhillmelb and @bilmuriband…

AND finally eating Jin ramyeon ahead of seeing @bts.bighitofficial next week!! 🥳

The last couple of weeks of January looked like this! Very glad that long month is over and done with, but actually I had a pretty great time hanging out with good people, cinema trips, checking off the first gigs of the year and of course, there are always plates of delicious food involved. February, let’s gooo! ✌🏻

A little late but the first few weeks of Jan mostly included friend catch ups (special mention to @mulan288 who cooked up the most DELICIOUS spread), beauty restocks and snow! I’m still in hibernation mode, so PJs, cosy socks and a huge mug of tea and an episode of Traitors are the things I look forward to every single day. 🥰

This week I am thankful for the 20 post carousels, I still think it’s too many but here we are…with 19. 😬

1. Remember her? Let me know if you were from the OG blogging days! I was looking at my blog recently and it makes me smile that this is my ‘indie’ phase at uni. It’s still giving emo. 🎀

2. Big big love to @michelleturton for gifting me this sweet little snake print. 🐍✨

3-4. Last week I had a chat with @luketonge’s placement students where I shared my career, a tiny mention of blogging, illustration and the importance of community. This was fun and they had the best energy! I loved meeting @ellieflodesign @daisym.jpeg @br_artjournal @ashaaa_p and @beth.rheanna. 💖

5. A giant inflatable snake in china town.

6. Hung out with friends and we played ‘Deliveroulette’ and ordered a bunch of food from Cantonese/Korean and Syrian places. Best idea ever.

7. Here are the birthday girls! @laurabeane and @mulan288 🥳

8. Wrapped some early birthday gifts…

9. Gifted Laura a lil’ doodle (she is indeed awesome). The full reel is over on @thewinnieproject and on TikTok.

10. Bought a @thebaobaeshop print for Connie….and for me. It was the perfect excuse.

11. Dim sum time.

12. I love my dad’s notes he made while watching a TV show about wine. 2012 wine is rubbish apparently. My dad is not a wine drinker. 🍷🤷🏻‍♀️

🚨 Legendary tour manager’s records on sale to benefit charity

- Records belonged to Dee McLoughlin, who worked with Bon Jovi, Crowded House, The Chemical Brothers and Simply Red

- Sales from the Birmingham record fair will benefit St Basils, a Birmingham organisation working to end homelessness amongst young people

A Birmingham charity is giving music fans the chance to buy a piece of history, as it sells the record collection of a legendary music promoter, rep and tour manager at a special event this month.

On Saturday 29th June, youth homeless charity St Basils will host a record fair at Great Western Arcade in central Birmingham selling vinyl records and music memorabilia.

The items come from the personal collection of the late Dee McLoughlin, a well-respected Irish tour manager and prolific vinyl record collector who made Birmingham his home in the 1970s.

Over his career, McLoughlin worked with artists as varied as Anastacia, Billy Bragg, Bon Jovi, The Chemical Brothers, Simply Red and many more.

He toured so frequently with Australian rock band Crowded House that they considered him family.

McLoughlin’s record collection was amassed over decades of crisscrossing the country on tour and is as eclectic as the variety of musicians he managed on tour.

Records on sale include music from George Michael, Elton John, Santana, and Bruce Springsteen, as well as vinyl from various genres including jazz, hip-hop and punk.

Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising for St Basils said; “I think I speak for everyone at St Basils when I say how privileged we are to be given these records from Dee’s collection.

“Whilst I never had the honour of meeting the man, it’s clear Dee cared a lot about music and the records are in great condition - and feature a variety of music styles.

“We hope they find new homes amongst music fans at our event and help us raise money to ensure that young people in the West Midlands do not experience homelessness.”

The record fair will be held at the St Basils pop-up shop in the Great Western Arcade, Birmingham on Saturday 29th June 2024 from midday until 3 pm.
