Ever wonder why l’m always flipping my phone upside down when I take pictures of my kid?
It’s not just for fun (though it is fun

Shooting upside down lets the camera sit closer to the ground-right where the action is. It helps me photograph the moment from my kid’s world, not mine.

That dreamy blur you see in the front of the photo? It’s just grass, toys, or even the edge of the couch, creating this beautiful soft foreground that adds depth and draws you into the frame.

It’s one of the easiest tricks I use to make everyday photos feel more immersive and magical-like you’re really in the memory, not just looking at it from the outside.

I love helping parents take better photos of their kids
—not by making things perfect, but by learning how to see everyday life in a new way.

You don’t need a fancy camera.

You just need your phone and a few intentional tweaks.

Some menus get read. Ours take flight. ✈️

We made a menu that turns into a paper airplane. And now, one of our favorite sights is watching kids send them sailing through Tasty Delicious.

A little idea, made by hand. A whole lot of joy in return.

Can’t believe there are 48k of you hanging out here and I only started sharing photo tips in late April.

My love for photography started with my iPhone (!!), using my Hipstamatic app in college. Now I’m 14 years into our wedding & family photography business, and I fell back in love with photography on my iPhone once Avett came into my life. Love sharing simple tips and inspiration along the way.
