(((No guitarists, no vocalists, nor blondes were harmed in the making of this post.)))

A little Helianthus update and assorted shenanigans.

@lavra.beach went up to Raleigh to visit @hellskald, where they managed to get the bulk of the vocal tracking done, hang out with some exceptionial puppies, indulge in excellent eats & coffee, catch @xasthur_official1 @templeofthefuzzwitch & @antiquitync and generally have a damn good time.

Something wicked is finally blooming.

I almost made it to my bi-monthly posting interval. Ope.

@otanifumi graciously invited me along to Day 3 of Shaky Knees. While it's not my normal jam, I actually had a great time. Good weather, good company, lots of unexpected encounters with people I haven't seen in months or years, and some excellent people-watching.

There's something about this lineup that massages the nostalgic part of the millennial brain and briefly reignites that long-dormant millennial optimism. For a few hours, it almost felt like the future had promise.

And I have a new appreciation for LCD Soundsystem.

Also, if anyone has any leads on extras of the “dungeon synth” fest shirt, please let me know. It was black with purple ink and had a cloaked figure holding a sword. 🥺

Bi-monthly post. A good picture of a Cope's Gray Tree Frog in my doorway last night.

My intentional bi-monthly post. Formerly quarterly.

My first show with @widowedlight .
I am deeply honored to have been asked to do vocals. I can’t thank @radagasttheblack and @elanti_percussion enough for the opportunity. Also to @randi_lynn_rag and @sonofsoutherndarkness for such a warm welcome.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported us, and held space for us at Eulogy.
Still can’t believe we got to open for Suffocation. It was the largest show I’ve personally played so far.
It felt good to be back in Asheville, surrounded by such kind and wonderful people.

Quarterly proof of life post.

I realized just now that a few days ago I quietly hit four years' sobriety from alcohol. Go me, I guess.

I’ll be honest. In these trying times, I do sometimes wish I could have some escapism here and there. But for now, this is what I’m doing. I don’t know if it’s a forever thing. At this point it’s become a test of strength, and I do feel a lot more sane being in control of myself. I regulate my emotions better this way.
Although, at times, I realize I’m about as fun as a wet blanket. Sorry, y’all.

I tried to find a recent photo of myself that I actually liked. This is the only one. Deal with it. This post is about self care, so the picture might as well be too.

That being said, take care of yourselves and each other. We’re living in some shitty times. Solidarity with those fighting oppression.

Baltimore photo dump.

@ministryofbrewing, @helianthusmetal practice, @bmoreseafood, Helianthus photoshoot.
Bonus, @chrisbeach0 & @hayleycbeach 's animals.

I got out of Atlanta for a weekend to practice with some of my closest friends and do a band photo shoot. And it was good to get out and hang too.

Big thanks to my brother & SIL for putting me up for a night. Another big thanks to @feedthescene for housing most of Heli for two nights. Also big thanks to @sekengard for letting us use their practice space at @orionstudios_baltimoreusa .
Another big thanks to @leianicolephoto for taking our pictures.

We are eternally grateful.
Big things growing. 🌻 ⚔️

I guess we've made it to 36. How? I don't know. We didn't expect to live this long but here we are.
It's getting weird, man.
But we're thankful to be here.
Thank you all for your continued love and support.

Also, listen to @morkemn .
