It’s very satisfying when you figure something out in your head, then you try it in yarn and it works as it should.

Skyfire shawl, published in July 2022, was my attempt to show fireworks in knitted form. Also my attempt to find a way to use those beautiful little bits of leftovers which are too nice to throw away but not large enough to know what to do with otherwise.
.
The bright 'sparks' pop against a dark background, or dark sparks can pop against a light background, depending on your colour choices.

The final outcome of my kumihimo kids craft experiment. I’m pretty pleased with how they came out. Would your child self have been happy to make one of these? My adult self was certainly entertained. by @leelamary

Got my @obsessionyarns fix a couple of weeks ago and actually remembered to get my camera out *before* I tore into the box. That’s my knitting to do list sorted for the next… while.
.
If you like what you see, there is going to a second round preorder, check out @obsessionyarns for the details.

Quick photo on the closest flat surface before I ripped it all out. Forgot to add an extra yarn over for stretch along the longer edge, which may have been survivable, but I also decided to go down a needle size and make a small change to the cable pattern while I was at it.

For Bubbleweed shawl, published in February 2022 I had to unvent a kind of flat bobble-ish stitch. I don't even know what it should be called. I wanted a kind of bobble effect but without the protrusion which always bugs me about bobbles. Turned out pretty effectlvely, if I do say so myself.

Pattern: Bubbleweed shawl (available on Ravelry & Payhip)
Yarn: Lovely blue/green Sock yarn from a dyer who is sadly no longer dyeing and a plain 4ply from some larger brand, can't remember where. by @leelamary

It’s been a week of Obtuse and Obtuser shawl photos, wrapping up now with a blocking video (because while I find actual blocking a pain I do enjoy a good blocking video). by @leelamary

If you're quick you can probably catch the end of the discount period for Obtuse and Obtuser, my latest patterns.
.
It's getting a bit warm for scarves (here in the Southern Hemisphere), but I have a feeling I'll be wearing Obtuser a fair amount next winter. It's warm enough to be useful but without too much bulk, so it will fit under a jacket. by @leelamary

I think I get all the hype about combining laceweight mohair with another strand of yarn now. That combo has been popping up everywhere, and while this is a bit of a different take on it (you don't hold the yarns together) the resulting fabric is still really nice. So if you happen have a (100g) skein of sock yarn and a matching (50g) skein of laceweight lying around, here's what you can do with it!

Given the wide possibilities of yarn choices for Obtuse and Obtuser I was really interested to see what my testers came up with, and as usual they did not disappoint.
.
Check out these beauties - Obtuse by @idlehandsknitworks, Obtuser by Sustaple (on Rav), Obtuse by @@jstebbing2, Obtuser by Tyche (on Rav) and Obtuse by @annaplexis.knits (plus check out her video of single pass brioche if you haven't seen it already - such coordination!).

Big thanks to all my testers, I really appreciate your attention to detail! by @leelamary

Obtuser shawl features the most dramatic difference in yarn weight that I have tried with brioche (so far - I have a vague plan for roving and fishing line, but that's a story for another day).
.
The variegated yarn is hand dyed DK weight that I purchased at the @oldbusdepotmarkets (dyed by a local dyer who seems to have no online presence that I can find) and the yellow is a heavy laceweight fluff I chose at @craftyfrog.com.au_ to match. You get the warmth and squish factor of the DK without the bulk of DK weight brioche around your neck.
.
I foresee more experiments with yarn textures in my future.
