39 forecast cards, a 17-minute immersive audio walk, and an old Tudor cottage on the Chiswell seafront facing storms, flooding and rising sea levels.

On Friday I presented The Weather or Not Station at the Royal Geographical Society, on a panel convened by Dr Kate Morison and hosted by the Climate Collaboratorium Project: Flipping the Script: exploring the possibilities of applied theatre for bringing Indigenous, vernacular and place-based knowledges into climate change adaptation. It was great to share with some amazing academics working in similar ways!

The work is one @ish.wari and I made together in 2023, grown out of a year-long collaboration with community organisers, fishermen and young people on the Isle of Portland, commissioned by b-side. It centres on Brandy Row, a council-owned cottage on the seafront. Through sound recording, printmaking and collective storytelling workshops, we made an audio walk that holds deep geological time, lived generational memory and uncertain climate futures together in one piece.
We’re interested in how creative practice and narrative vehicles can surface embodied, vernacular and local knowledge about a particular landscape- a form of knowing too often left out of the maps and models used to forecast what’s coming.
Underneath it sits a question we keep returning to: how do we make a forecast, and what tools are needed to do so?

Presenting marks my entry point into a funded practice-based PhD, part of the AHRC Living Well with Water Focal Doctoral Awards Consortium — four years thinking about flooding, flood memory, storytelling, film, print and sound in the UK’s coastal towns.

This summer I had the pleasure of designing decorations for my sister Caitlin’s wedding to her (now) husband Clarence, with the help of @leo.rousham. We made both hanging decorations (including 2 mobiles) and some table decorations for holding lights. These were all made from paper, which we printed with images from different phases of their relationship on the inside, and with drawings of scenes of celebration on the outside and then folded them up and sewed them with embroidery thread. When they hung they spun in constellations representing their relationship taken in Camden Art Centre by @leo.rousham

Join us on Tuesday 11th for a screening of POWER STATION @mockbirdcinema in Birmingham! We are super excited for this one. There will be two screenings: one at 15:50 and one at 17:55.

Homeward bound from @jihlava_idff complete with a golden certificate because our film POWER STATION @power.film.art got a ‘special mention’ in the international competition ‘opus bonum’. We felt so welcome at this brilliant creative documentary film festival and so happy to see it resonate and reach a diverse and particularly young European audience. Thank you! Flushed cheeks from drinking fine Czech wine with @boironlajous who also got special mention and @lisaplstr who won best central and Eastern European doc in our opus bonum category - and I even got to dance ! And apparently appear on Czech tv botching my speech as accepting on behalf of all the power station team @dan777edelstyn @jessicatmandu @leo.rousham @littleredhenfilms and so many more including our street and everyone who helped make this people powered film happen! And thank you to a @britisharts film travel fund grant for helping get us there taken in Jihlava, Czech Republic by @leo.rousham
