Why Excessive Dependence on Wrist Wraps Can Be Problematic!

This problem emerges when individuals excessively rely on wrist wraps, mistakenly thinking they will significantly enhance their lifting capabilities and deliver the ultimate wrist stability.

To address this issue, it may be advantageous to divert attention away from wrist wraps and instead emphasize correct elbow positioning during lifts. By doing so, the primary focus shifts to optimizing the alignment of your elbow in relation to your wrist, facilitating efficient force production and stabilization.

It's important to recognize that people will have their own opinions and preferences regarding wrist wraps. Maybe before rushing out to purchase them, it's important to explore all other potential solutions first. by @liftsbydavid

You may be wondering, Why would I set the bar lower in the hand when that seems less secure?

In reality, it’s actually more secure if executed correctly. You’re positioning your grip in a way that prevents the bar from rolling down your hand. You’ll start in the position where it would typically roll, and all you have to do is squeeze and hold without worrying or expending extra energy to prevent slipping or rolling. You can think of it as pulling the slack out of your hookgrip.

Setting your grip low will also help reduce the risk of thumb tearing. The reason for thumb tears is gripping too tightly and deep in the palm. Once you initiate the deadlift, the bar will roll out of your hand, and since you’re gripping tightly with a large surface area of your inner thumb, it will roll with it, causing the tear.

By minimizing thumb tears, you’ll be able to use the hook grip for more repetitions.

anyways, this is what has been effective for me. Give it a shot and share your results with us. by @liftsbydavid
