HERE IS MY SECRET!👇 A big hello if you’ve found me!

This account began as a way for me to document my own journey and I’m so happy to have you here! 😊🙌

I’m Lina! (Obviously lool) It’s been such an incredible journey creating my own first thobe and now I’m in the business of helping you do the same.

WHY? Because it is OUR tradition of creating tatreez for OURSELVES as Palestinians. And our tatreez doesn’t look better than on the garments that we wear. 💃

If you’re ready to be inspired and RECLAIM our ancestral tradition, then join me on this account. Last week, I was invited to offer a perspective at the UN Women’s 68th Commission on the Status of Women.

The session that I contributed toward was an event hosted by @kademorgtr titled: “Invisible struggles and brave hearts: Being a woman in Palestine”.

It was a privilege to be among such incredibly brilliant and articulate Palestinian women, including poet @zeina.azzam1 , Ambassador Feda Abdelhady Nasser, Doctor Karameh Kuemmerle and MD Candidate @safassalem . They spoke with such profound dignity and love for our shared heritage.

Poet Zeina Azzam’s reading of her poem “Write my name” was particularly moving and it brought tears to many in the room.

I will remember everyone’s words.

This is a clip of my contribution as a tatreez artist, Palestinian in the diaspora, and a person of conscious witnessing the daily massacre and genocide of the people of Gaza.

May we see a permanent ceasefire and full liberation of the Palestinian people. by @linasthobe

The full motif library inside Tatreez.io is open to everyone. Scroll it, search it, filter it, and drop any motif straight onto your canvas. The free version also includes the complete DMC thread catalog, so you can start playing with color right away.

Every one of these motifs was digitized by @Tirazain.initiative. They did the slow, careful work of preserving these patterns, and I’m so grateful to build on top of it. Go show them some love.
