In the midst of all the turmoil, in the world and personally, I decided to pick this one up again. I find the color and the image very calming. The stitching requires some attention though.

Since I watched the epic WIPparade from @jessiedoesstuff, took a few sessions, I wanted to post the before and after.

I went left first, to make sure I didn’t run out of fabric. I measured the start wrong. I have barely 1,5 cm left (third picture), but it will fit 😅

I finished stitching my qabbeh for my thobe. I’m taking the Craft Your Dream Thobe class by @linasthobe. Motifs are from @tirazain.initiative and from the book Tatreez and Tea by Wafa Ghnaim @tatreezandtea, as well as from my own design.

On Cultural Appropriation ⬇️

One of the biggest questions we get asked is whether or not someone can wear or practice tatreez in some shape or form, and ultimately, people are worried about whether or not they’ll be seen as culturally appropriating tatreez.

🎧 So we discussed it on this week’s episode of @tatreeztalk. Listen to our Tatreez Talk Mailbag episode to hear our full discussion on cultural appropriation and more.

How to Not Culturally Appropriate Tatreez:

🪡 Always acknowledge that the art you are participating in is Palestinian art.

🪡 Learn about the history of tatreez from Palestinians.

🪡 Reflect on WHY you want to practice or wear tatreez.

🪡 Do not profit off of tatreez if you are not Palestinian.

🪡 Support, promote, and amplify Palestinian Tatreez artists, creators, businesses, and educators.

🪡 Stand in solidarity, and vocally support Palestinian liberation.
