This is Holy Macro Carpa my ceramic still life sculpture in the beautiful rammed earth gallery at Sculptures in the Garden at Rosby Wines Mudgee. Inspired by the Western Australian eucalyptus known as the ‘rose of the west’ and the still life paintings of Margaret Preston who’s middle name was coincidentally also Rose.
Thanks @debwilkesart for the video footage of my assembly.

Making the top for a new Stone Hinge sculpture wasn’t as fast as it looks here. It actually took the best part of the day yesterday, since the cylinder and its preceding coils needed to be dry enough to keep their shape before attaching one to the other and enclosing the form.

You will see other pieces in this series and more of my new work at the following sculpture events this Spring:

Working on another gum blossom sculpture commission here with a sneak peak into my ceramic underglazing painting process which is much like painting on paper only harder.

If you’d like to see more of my work that is currently for sale, please go to the Sculptures in the Garden or Winmark Wines online catalogues. Links are in my bio. Or come and visit me in my wonderful Marrickville Studio.
