“We are not the flowers
Soft beauty in morning light
We are the roots
Deepened by the days
And through seasons changed
I will hold you
I will grow with you
And I will love you”

The poem that my love wrote to me on January 20, 2024 continues to wrap itself around our love and life.

In this next phase of each glorious day together, we take the first step towards divine union, after preparing ourselves for one another through years of lessons and healings in this life.

Until we finally made it home.

Here is to a life together of devotion and freedom, rooting each other on and fiercely defending our dreams.

We did it again babe, we found each other. Thank you for the leading me to the deepest heart opening portal of my soul. I can’t wait to marry you! @liveloud.co

And thank you to our friends and family for making it happen so seamlessly and beautifully at our home! @maxstossel @davidzangwill @mishadesign @lizzard_nyc by @liveloud.co

First Father’s Day from the heart.

I started the morning early, meditating in the park with my love, our dog, and our baby girl. Then the messages came in. Happy Father’s Day.

I don’t usually care much for holidays, but something’s been moving through me, and it feels worth sharing, even if it’s not the popular take.

I hold a deep reverence for women. Maybe it’s because I was raised by my mom and three sisters. My father was mostly absent, and so the women in my life became my reference point for strength, compassion, presence, for love in its most consistent form.

And I’ve learned to love the men in my life just as powerfully.

Here’s the thing. When I hear “Happy Father’s Day”… or even see a month dedicated to men’s mental health… it sounds like just words. Hollow. Like it doesn’t mean much. Not that I lacked love from my Father’s Day wishes. It was all filling to receive. But because I’ve witnessed how easily the masculine is met with criticism, tolerance at best, but rarely reverence.

And I get it. Men have caused harm. A lot of it. That truth exists. But somewhere along the way, any conversation about honoring or empowering men started to feel like it had to defend itself, like it risks being mistaken for something it’s not.

What’s coming up for me is simple.
I stand for a world where we hold deep reverence for all beings, including men.

For the fathers who tried.
For the ones who are trying.
For the men who faced their demons and chose to stay, to grow, to love anyway.

May we remember the presence of grounded men, not as something to fear, but as something that brings breath, steadiness, and calm to the soul.

Happy Father’s Day, brothers.

I see you.
I honor you. by @liveloud.co

She’s here.
Our baby girl is here.

Been locked in, devoted to my family while she learns what it feels like on this side of life.

I have more words than I can even hold right now…
and none of them would really do this justice.
But I’ll say a few.

• life is a miracle. real talk.
• I’m in awe of Kimberly… my God, you are the portal.
• home birth is the truth. All natural. I caught baby girl on the way out. I’ll never forget that.
• everything I do, and don’t do, ripples. nothing is small anymore.
• being a father is easy to say… being a dad, that’s work. that’s presence.
• healing is in real time so I don’t pass down what is not hers to carry.
• postpartum is real. again, hats off to all the moms.
• I’m living in a dream I used to write about when I was doing my work around the world. which was also a dream achieved.

I’ll go deeper soon… but for now, I’ll leave this.

That last photo. I was outside a store, waiting on Kimberly,
caught my reflection… I liked my fit, new frames, coffee in hand, stroller right there.

Then she walked up to us.

And I heard the younger me clear as day, like he could see ahead a flash in time..
“look at you… that’s what I’m talking about. proud of you.”

Ok don’t mind me as I blast out a bunch of dad mode things, but it feels like a must to reflect on this journey.

I want to start by saying I’ve been waiting.

We are waiting any day now for baby girl to come earth side. But it’s not just her I was waiting for. I was waiting for the other stuff to come in. The fear. The doubt. The dread. I said in the first days of knowing, “I welcome the parts of me that need to be heard in this process.” The life I spent fearing a failed family given what I went through growing up. The doubt that it would last, that it wouldn’t fall apart like I once knew love and home to be. The fear of not knowing if I would be a good father.

But it never came.

Not to say it won’t. I welcome it if it does. But it hasn’t. Truth is I have been doing my work for the last decade, preparing for this moment. The years I spent working on my trauma and beliefs to liberate others from their boxes, starting with myself. The years of shadow work, parts work, tending to my wounded child, anger at others, resentment from childhood, and the darkness within me. All leading to this moment where I feel the most surrendered I might have ever felt.

Baby girl. I’ve held you in my arms for years now (Another post.). Whenever you are ready. We here. by @liveloud.co

Making our way to wrap up another epic year with our annual gala.

This year brought on so much growth. From running circles in Rikers prison, in high schools, with our Reentry partners, community projects, welcoming over 100 new kings into the family, and so many other wins.

It also comes with its challenges of reshaping who we are, what we do, and how we do it. When it comes to meeting hearts and needs that were buried through time, the work can be a lot to hold. In immense gratitude for the Kings and Queens that help us hold it down. Gratitude for my team who makes it all possible. Honored to be a king amongst kings and do what we do to bring change to our communities. An impact one cannot measure in numbers but in breaths, expanded hearts, battles through shadows, and standing for something most of us haven’t seen. But that’s what we do. And we will keep doing it. “Until we are all free.”

I went to a friend’s Bar Mitzvah when I was 12. It had been 2 years since we came to NY without my dad. I stood in front of the mirror for an hour crying in rage trying to tie my tie. I didn’t know how and no one ever taught me. My mom cried because of my frustration and her own for not knowing either.

There was chaos frequently in my household growing up but with living more on high alert, I couldn’t tell what was missing. I remember that day in front of the mirror vividly as it built part of my thick skin. And as I spent years melting away the walls, I find this moment. A sweet moment with little man helping him with his tie.

Might not seem like much but it’s a win for my little boy to serve this little boy in this moment. A moment I didn’t have. And it’s my gift to give it away. by @liveloud.co

Over a decade I embarked on travels and brought travel books to journal in. In them, I spoke of many things from many adventures. And the consistent. I wrote about her. I wrote about the home. The family. The kids. I would write about the work I am doing for when they arrive. To fortify the man I get to be and that they get to have.

And now… it’s here. My home. My family. My baby girl on the way. No big reveals. No bells and whistles. Just my lady and I at our altar. In ceremony as we do. Every step of the way. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

To my baby girl on the way. I’ve held you in my arms in visions over time. And in ready to have you here.

"It is much easier to be this shell of myself and shut down all these feelings, rather than actually face all of the things that i've been packing away." - @liveloud.co speaking at the New Visions of Masculinity program.

A reminder to the brothers that may feel like we need to carry everything alone. Let's change the narratives together.

Raul talked about the ways men are taught to mask what we're feeling and why its important break through that shell, at the New Visions of Masculinity program.

Share with a brother that needs to be reminded of the power of vulnerability in a safe community. Let's change the narratives together.

Bday post. Speaking from my King.

Bday post. Historically, I would leave on this day. Somewhere. Often a disappearing act. My celebration often felt best out in the nowhere. Somewhere. Away from things. It’s historically been a bit of a hard or loaded day. I see that I would leave partially because I’m a travel junky and loved being out in the world but also to avoid disappointment. Anger. Let down. Expectations to be joyful when sometimes I just wasn’t. Often it would work. Sometimes disappointment traveled with me.

This year I’m here, rooted, in my now home. And I give myself gratitude for the life I lived. It could have gone all types of ways especially with my challenges I faced since I was a kid. But I’m here as this.

I feel flawed. I get lonely. I get depressed. I get passionate. I get silly. I get joyful. I’m in touch with my emotions. I shut down. I make mistakes. Sometimes I hurt people. Mostly I awaken people and their hearts. I love hard. I protect myself hard. I’m mischievous. I’m kinky. I get silent. I’m powerful. I’m spiritual. I’m everything in the mix. Everything.

And it’s contributes to leader I am. The brother I am. The lover I am. The friend I am. The son I am. I’m a good man. I have a good heart. And I mean and do good in the world. I’m learning. I’m growing. I’m me. And there’s no mother fucker out there like it. And I learned how to say that out loud.

Peace fam. Love to you all. Love to you all. by @liveloud.co

Today marks another big win for the @allkings.ny family. We made it on the @nytimes, let alone in “the Great Reads” section.

For years now we have been circling up as men to talk about our story, unpack our truth, confront the hardest things we have to say, all to return back as more wholesome men for our families, communities, and ourselves.

We circle mainly to support men impacted by the criminal legal system and young men at risk. Though that is our focus, all men are welcome because though our circumstances and lives went on different paths, the origins of our experience is a story well shared. And we will keep doing this work “until we are all free”. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

I’ll say more in a post coming soon but I have a million examples of what not to be as a man as many of our brothers agreed. Im honored to lead this community, stand for one another, and stand for the younger brothers in these communities.

A huge thanks to @heyjoebernstein for capturing our story and @kadarsmall for visually bringing it to life. And above all, that you for your hearts you shared powerfully.
