Rainy day framing day. Labour of love 🫶 Hand cut, mitred, stained and mounted. Not sure it saves time nor money, but it’s been great to learn and do the whole process from woah to go ☺️ a few recent mini landscapes with co-framer @jamesrobertsart and thanks to the og master @simonpalmeroz for the lessons by @livesoftlyart

It’s the final weekend of James’ show at @project_gallery_woollahra thank you for everyone who showed up and supported in all of the different ways💙💙 pop along this weekend if you haven’t, we will be there Saturday. I’ve been lucky enough to see most of these works come to life and privy to all of the patience and consideration that goes in to them. Painting is a way of staying afloat in a pretty crazy world at least for James and I, a moment to be still, focus, ‘so how would I mix the exact blue of that bottle? Of that sky? Of that sea?’ To spend time looking, noticing in a fast world, a crazy, spinning world. It’s an anchoring, a life raft, a meditation, an appreciation of the small stuff which then extends and changes how you view the world. So appreciative of this practice, of James for putting himself out there when it feels easier to bunker down in the tin shed, and for the friends and family who support us and inspire us. And to Katie @project_gallery_woollahra because it is no small feat running a galley in this city and she does so much to support the spirits and the livelihoods of the artists she represents 💙💙💙 keep on painting and making everyone! @jamesrobertsart #oilpainting by @livesoftlyart

Magnolias are my all time favourite flower, the flowers are large enough to encase one’s whole head, and the smell intoxicating. This painting doesn’t show the flower as I think they need to be left on the tree for everyone to enjoy, so magnolia leaves it is! #oilpaint #stilllife by @livesoftlyart

A painting of the house my mum grew up in. And the garden my grandad pored all his love and efforts in to when he came back from the war. It must have been some kind of garden therapy growing thousands of dahlias that people would pull over to admire. Complete with one of our first family cars. In the development project that is Sydney this house is no longer standing, some great big duplex now replacing it of course so it felt nice to paint a memory of it in oil paint. Just missing is my dad in his shirt shorts and little me in some 1980s ensemble. Oil on canvas by @livesoftlyart

Rainbow connection 🌈 painted for a special small person in mind. More rainbow and less sky than the last version 😊And who doesn’t love rainbows, a bit magic and a bit mystical. I also love this song which makes me cry. every. single. time. Final image is the amazing female artist Hilda Rix, if you haven’t been to see Dangerously Modern at the Art Gallery, do - so many amazing female artists past who are finally being given their proper dues ✨✨🌈🌈 by @livesoftlyart

A tin shed appreciation post. Maybe the only tin shed left in Surry Hills. Lucky to have a space to get messy and experiment in, even if it heats up like a can of soup and leaks like a sieve 🫣 bonus being we have the most amazing creative laneway neighbours 🙌 @vincent_sebastian_ @jamesrobertsart @georginavanity @declankellymusic @elise_slater_art by @livesoftlyart

A long weekender in the Kanimbla Valley accompanied by a very friendly red bellied black snake… plein air is full of challenges! Plus a hike in the lost city in the garden of stones which was mind blowing. How to capture the blue of the ever changing mountains could be a life long persuit by @livesoftlyart
