“For some, the Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club is woven into family history. A place filled with memories, tradition, and community. For others, it’s a well-kept secret, assumed to be “just tennis, but there is so much more. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive place and although we’re a members club, visitors are always welcome. Why not pop in and see what we’re all about?” James Max, Chairman.

Flexible membership options are on offer and if you just want to hang out, they have a great bar (members get a cheeky discount 😀), and poolside kitchen, so you can just sit and watch the tennis with an ice cold beer in your hand. How much do I love Ross & Wheatley?❤️❤️ They were super-busy today, which is brilliant to see. I found all the ingredients I need for this weekend’s meals - a fresh coleslaw to go with slow-cooled pork and a chilli with guacamole and tomato salsa. Also bagged some more of these Portuguese oranges, which are the juiciest ones I have ever tasted - slightly addicted to them!

If you’ve never visited this shop in Frinton, give it a try. Everything is great quality, so fresh and pretty much package-free! ❤️❤️🍆🥒🌽🥕🥦🍅🧅🌶️🧄🍠 #lovefrinton #shoplocal #supportsmallbusiness #packagefree #loveyourveggies taken in Connaught Avenue, Frinton on Sea by @lovefrinton

A little bit of Scandi chic here in Frinton. It’s no wonder that Great Danes gets a mention on Trip Advisor as one of the ‘things to do in Frinton’!

We love popping into this cool shop at 12 Connaught Avenue, which is run by the very glamorous Danish Birgitte and her husband Mike. Whether you want to treat yourself to a little something-a bag, a buttery soft scarf, a pair of very cool reading glasses, or if you need to buy a special gift - this shop will have something you’ll love.

Christmas has definitely arrived in Great Danes, with their quirky advent candles, beautiful Christmas gnomes, ceramic and felt tree ornaments, reindeer trays, angel tealight holders, cute felt nativity scenes and unique tree decorations.

If it’s a gift you’re looking for, they have something for all budgets. Tealight holders, handmade candles, ceramic vases, candlesticks and pretty tea towels would all make great presents. For special gifts and occasions, they have a beautiful range of Georg Jensen homewares including candlesticks, decanters, glasses and jewellery, and for younger members of the family they have a great range of Lego and Maileg characters. And don’t forget their bestselling Glerup slippers-my whole family now own a pair.

And once you’re done with your shopping, you can celebrate in the The Patio with a freshly made cocktail or a glass of fizz, next to the open fire. The Patio is open every Friday and Saturday and don’t forget to look out for their events: 14th December is sushi night. #lovefrinton #frinton #connaughtavenuefrinton #shoplocal taken in Great Danes by @lovefrinton

I’m sure everyone in Frinton knows Chris, who must be the most dapper man-about-town (with Dexter his side-kick being the coolest dog). He has run #frintonvintage Number 24, this incredible vintage and art deco Aladdin’s cave of a shop for 28 years, and it’s easy to see why it’s such a destination store for residents and visitors alike.

When you step inside you are instantly transported back to the days when everything was just so much more glamorous. An old radio churns out 1930’s music as you wander into this vintage wonderland, and it’s hard to know just where to start.

Rails of authentic vintage clothing-tweed and denim jackets, blazers, coats, ties, silk scarves, waistcoats, dresses, hats, Levi 501s, Salvage Jeans, even an original WW2 leather jerking jacket. Handmade boyfriend shirts are a bestseller, as are the film and music TShirts-The Goonies always sells out fast!

Shelves are lined with beautiful art deco tea sets and vases, antique hip flasks, gorgeous brooches, jewellery and perfume bottles. Everywhere you look there are reconditioned telephones and radios (they all work), binoculars, cigarette boxes, art deco lamps…the list goes on! As does the shop - it really is a tardis. At the back of the shop are more clothing and vintage items and an old TV is playing re-runs of Dad’s Army…one of my own Dad’s favourite shows .

Chris is a real character and a credit to Connaught Avenue, with a huge passion for his shop and Frinton. It’s almost like a beautifully curated museum…but with everything for sale! If you are stuck for gift ideas and want to buy something completely unique….this is the shop to visit. I guarantee you won’t leave empty-handed. Number 24 of Frinton will be open late on 7th December for the Christmas Festival. #lovefrinton #frintononsea #connaughtavenuefrinton #shoplocal #vintage taken in No 24 by @lovefrinton

How many high streets can say they still have a proper, top quality, old-fashioned greengrocers? Where you can browse through the boxes of super-fresh fruit and vegetables, choose what you want, pop them into a brown paper bag, get them weighed, the pay and go. They will even pop them into a recycled veg box for you.

Well, Connaught Avenue is so lucky to have Ross & Wheatley, our very own family-run greengrocers. Wayne has been in the greengrocer trade for 49 years and he runs this gem of a shop at 130 Connaught Avenue, with his wife Sue and daughter Lois.

Huge shiny peppers, tomatoes of all shapes and sizes, enormous gnarly chunks of ginger, massive juicy lemons, a great selection of mushrooms, plump Medjoul dates, boxes of sweet strawberries and I counted 4 types of garlic-one of which Wayne had confited himself and put in little pots.

Wayne and colleague Lawrence take it in turns to make the daily trip to Spitalfields to ensure the stock is fresh. This is why, when you ask for something specific, he can pretty much get it in for you the next day…now that’s service you won’t get in one of the big supermarkets. They will always source locally where possible.

This amazing shop also stocks a selection of snacking dried fruits and nuts, local honey and a massive range of Tiptree products. They even have a few jars left of the very limited edition Little Scarlet strawberry conserve-once it’s gone, it’s gone!

This has got to be one of our favourite shops in Frinton. If you are stuck for meal inspiration, just come here and look around-you’ll soon come up with some ideas. Wayne, Sue and Lois are lovely too. Always happy to chat, offer advice (on fruit and veg anyway), and so helpful. There is parking outside if you have a big order and this year for Christmas, they will be open on Sunday 22nd, Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th 8am-6pm. We headed to the other end of Connaught Avenue to visit @kittys.jules1 . You can’t miss this shop, as it always has the best window displays! Check out their Autumn window, with their dress of leaves.

I always manage to find something to buy here, and that may be because Kitty, who has run this little Frinton clothes shop for 6 years, changes the stock every 3 weeks and never has more than one of each item. That means you’re not going to catch your friends in the same outfit!

All the clothes are from Italy, and she has a huge range of gorgeously soft jumpers, beautiful printed dresses, skirts, magic trousers (look good on everyone), floaty tops and cosy jackets. The other great thing about this shop as that it has something for all ages-I often bring my mum here, and my son’s girlfriend loves it too. There is something for everyone.

With Christmas coming, there are so many great gift ideas: velvet pouches, printed scarves, soft gloves, pretty bracelets woolly hats and little clutch bags, all between £12-£18. She even has the prettiest Christmas decorations in store to get you in the festive mood.

Kitty’s Jules will be open for the Late Night Christmas Festival on December 7th with glasses of fizz and mince pies on offer as you browse the rails. I asked Kitty why she opened a shop in Frinton and she said because of the great sense of community. Everyone is so friendly and people often just pop in for a chat. I wish I could! I always end up spending money. 👗🧣🧤🛍️👛 taken in Connaught Avenue, Frinton on Sea by @lovefrinton

If you have never stepped into the wonderful world of @the_olde_sweet_shop on 15 Connaught Avenue, then we suggest you give it a go.

The Petts have run this fantastic little shop for 8 years now and it is a treasure trove of goodies. Shelves are lined with rows and rows of jars containing every type of sweet you could imagine. My particular favourites are pear drops and aniseed twists, but apparently the best sellers are lemon sherbets and blue raspberry bonbons.

If jars of sweets aren’t your thing, they also stock pick-n-mix, chocolates, nougat bars and American candy. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed NOT to find something you love! They have some cool selections for Halloween and for Christmas they will be stocking little Christmas bags.

They will be open for the late night Christmas festival on December 7th, with a popcorn and candy floss stall outside.🍫🍬🍭🍡 #lovefrinton #frinton #frintononsea #connaughtavenuefrinton #shoplocal #sweets taken in Connaught Avenue, Frinton on Sea by @lovefrinton
