@youwanted.this The ABC confirmed today that Snezana’s daughter Eve made the Triple Zero call to police to report the incident. No woman, or daughter should have to go through this. My heart is with Snezana and her family. She built a life and a public identity around this relationship. She is navigating something unimaginably hard in public with cameras outside the courthouse. She does not need our speculation. She does not need our pity. She does not need us deciding what she should do next. She needs space to make her own decisions with whatever support she has around her. And she needs a justice system that takes what happened to her seriously. by @luna_moss

@crimeanalyst Oh Hi Sam Wood. Strangulation of a woman is not self-defense - and you know it. I say this as the former Head of the Homicide Prevention Unit at New Scotland Yard and expert on domestic homicide and coercive control. Strangulation increases the risk of femicide 850% #SamWood #CrimeAnalyst #Strangulation #Facts #Prevention by @luna_moss

home florals

Rain outside. Flowers inside. Seems fair. 🌧️

For days when the sky is being dramatic, bring home something equally good.

No occasion. No reason. Just flowers, because apparently we’re allowed to make the everyday look this good.

@archambassador 9/11 is the biggest lie of our lifetime. These are the words of Christopher Gioia, a NY fire commissioner and 9/11 first responder, explaining how World Trade Center 7 collapsed from the bottom up due to hidden explosives.
It became the pretext for the "war on terror" that justified, before the public, the invasion of Afghanistan and later Iraq, together with a permanent military presence in the Middle East. The invasions were presented as a response to al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, who was trained by the CIA during the Cold War. In 2001, he reappeared on the scene, giving speeches in rags from a cave, portrayed as the personification of the enemy to be fought and as the person "responsible" for the attacks on the WTC on September 11 in New York. If we analyze the consequences, we see a strengthening of industries such as weapons manufacturing, territorial control, and the extraction of natural resources such as oil. It strengthened national and international policing and control systems, which were demanded by citizens themselves, and it also led to a convenient reset of the international financial network through the destruction of the "unbacked" financial archives of Wall Street located in the WTC. It's also worth mentioning that, just months before, Larry Silverstein, the owner, leased the WTC with terrorism insurance, and after the attacks, he successfully sued for double indemnity based on two strikes, winning a 4.55 billion settlement. And the only day Silverstein missed work was 9/11.

There is something lovely

She brings home flowers simply because they were beautiful.

She makes something delicious and puts it on her favorite plate.

She wears the dress she loves on an ordinary afternoon.

She wanders through museums, takes the long way home, opens the windows, plays music while making dinner.

Not because the day is special.

But because she knows how to make a day feel special.

There is so much pleasure in treating your own life with tenderness.

In discovering that your own company can be wonderful company.

That beauty can belong to a Tuesday.

That delight doesn’t need a reason.

And that an ordinary life, given enough attention, can become a very beautiful one. ✦

This is the world of The Velvet Morning, a monthly letter for women who want to notice more beauty, meaning and poetry in everyday life.

@swallowsanddamsons “The dark night into which the year was plunging was not a sleep but an awakening, a new and necessary austerity, the sparer climate for which I longed. The shed trees were brittle and still, the creek light and cold, and my spirit holding its breath.”

Annie Dillard, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek

As the dance of light and dark reaches a perfect balance, I’ll be quietly hiding in the woods somewhere reflecting with thanks for all the past season’s magnificent flower and human encounters.

Sending you all love, peace, richness and depth for the darker half of the year ahead. May the autumn teach us how beautiful it can be to let go 🖤🍂
