Earlier this year, I competed in the Miss Miami Gardens Scholarship Competition and won the Best Interview Category!

That kindled something in me that pushed me to move forward.

I jumped into pageantry on a whim last year to challenge myself out of the limitations I'd grown to believe defined me.

If 2018 Lynn could see me now, she'd be shaking. Because who was I to dare to believe that I possessed anything of value, beauty, or significance.

Doing things that you feel unqualified for will make you feel foolish until you realize that it takes a level of folly to fully walk in your spiritual identity.

The kind of folly that looks at every historical piece of evidence that establishes how your story should conclude- except -in the place of the words "The end" - to flip the script and write a different destiny.

I'd tell 17 year old Lynn, that your identity is not assigned to you by the compelling voices of your environment and experiences.

Your lived identity is the sum of your bold belief and your audacious actions.

It's a blessing to commence endeavors with your friends by your side.🦋

In March, some of my friends joined me for an International Women's Day Event, where we had fun experimenting with Skincare and Beauty Products from MARY KAY Company.

The story of this company moved me upon hearing their efforts against domestic violence and granting women opportunities to be self-sufficient.

Furthermore, what impressed me about MARYKAY is that it's another bridge to community connection. It changes the journey to skincare solutions from being an isolated off the shelf one - To a journey that provides one-on-one help along the way.

Through a Beauty Consultant who is aware of your specific skin needs and curating product essentials just for you. Which is something many companies don't offer.

At the core, I've always loved bringing people together. In this age, though technology facilitates connection globally, it tends to disconnect us locally.

But societies flourish when they are interconnected. When members are actively standing with and supporting one another.

For this reason, I made the decision to become an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay! My dreams are to facilitate connection in different environments and create sisterhood around skincare.

I look forward to what the future holds, and I'm so grateful that I took the first step with my friends by my side.🫂 by @lynnescarment

It was such a wonderful experience competing in the 100th year anniversary of the Miss Miami Pageant!

What I love about the @missmiamicompetition is that it’s not solely a beauty pageant. It is a pageant that celebrates the health, talent, commitment to service and confidence, of young women while creating role models in the community.

It was so inspiring to be in the midst of a group of women who are confident and fiercely passionate about serving their communities.

This was my first-ever pageant, and I’m so grateful to have been mentored by Miss Florida @officialjuliettevalle and former Miss Cuba, Damaris Aguiar. @damarisaguiar

Pageants like these are so empowering because they challenge young women to grow in confidence, speak their minds and eloquently express their views.

I’m so thankful for the experience and that I dared to follow through. Whenever you’re doing something you’ve never done before, there will always be a small voice in the back of your mind telling you that you should just give up, but I’m so grateful that I didn’t listen. I’m so glad that I followed through.

By following through, I ended up being in a space filled with so many inspirational women! I ended up challenging myself in different lengths and It changed the way I view myself.

I celebrate intitiatives like this and I look forward to what the future holds! Thank you @missmiamicompetition
