“I look out the window and see the squirrels running in infinities, and humming birds floating outside my door. It feels like I’m in the right place.”

Quiet Hours Resident Artist Alejandra Jiménez (@pnto.cer0) arrived in Beachwood Canyon a week ago, and is settling into her 60 day residency with @quiethours.space.

Alejandra Jiménez (b. 1999, Madrid, Spain) is a Miami-based painter whose work explores the intersection of personal mythology, the collective unconscious, and the animistic.

Join us on September 24th as we celebrate the anniversary of Grits, a solo exhibition by Clarence S Josey II, curated by @laurynn_l

Since the opening of Grits on September 25th, 2025, my family’s story and history have continued to travel. My goal was for the work to be seen and felt, and we did just that. It’s a huge honor to see my family’s story continue to live beyond the exhibition and find its way into other spaces.

With four works from Grits currently on view at @greenspacemiami “Count it all Joy” - it’s only right that we celebrate the anniversary here. I’m excited to bring Grits back and share an evening centered around the people that help this show become what it is today.

The evening will include a screening of a short film about the closing day of Grits by @byaaronjjackson , followed by a conversation moderated by @_reginaldoneal_ reflecting on the work, the exhibition, and the community that supported the show.

Music & refreshments by No Seasons will be provided.

6 PM - Doors Open | 7:10 PM - Short film screening | 7:30 PM - Conversation moderated by Reginald O’Neal

after party at No Seasons 9pm - till

A quiet hour. Firmly believe in seeking quiet hours within the loud times, (but always returning to noise with your renewed eyes).

I suppose this is a 2026 take on a silent film. No hooks, trending music, or AI. Just a single weight, a single rope, some birds, and some words. Shot during my time at @quiethours.space residency in Los Angeles, which was a perfect mix of movement in the canyon and on the canvas. Just re:flecting on perceived limitations of past surgeries, current ailments, and the importance of healthy and alternative means to express. (especially, the importance of men finding their way into their own intuitive art practice).

Two stacks of metal wedged between the nerve endings in my fuck you finger.
I’ve got scars.
More will come.

Perhaps within the push and pull of the physical and spiritual acts of healing, there is understanding of decline.

Maybe solace is found in our daily maintenance, rather than the false comforts of avoided pain.
Maybe it’s possible to acknowledge reality while refusing to let it diminish vitality.

There is, I’ve discovered a spiritual dimension to a back injury. It teaches patience and requires attention.

How can I afford wastefulness?
What must I rinse?

There is a finite reserve, now.
There was always a finite reserve.

Take limitation as the start of ascension.
Find myself on both sides of the spine.

Give up good to receive what is uniquely mine.

Life is oscillating between the ephemeral and the perpetual, subconsciously impacted by the sights, sounds, and structures in our immediate space.

Scaffold Sounds, “Environmental Play” is a series that draws attention to that space around us, and how our efforts can and should directly shape it.

The full 30 minute set is live on the @scaffoldsounds YouTube. taken in Miami, Florida by @macayado

What are we building, who is it for. This is our first of a series of 10 sets across music genres where we take the Quiet Hours scaffold to areas around the city.

Scaffold Sounds, Environmental Play set 1 by @margohannah_ is live on the @scaffoldsounds YouTube Channel now.

When people listen to this set, what would you like them to be doing?

“Rest. Whatever rest looks like to them. Morning coffee, cooking, chilling in the park.” - Margo

Scaffold Sounds is the audio nozzle for @quiethours.space. A way to tell stories through a new medium, specifically highlighting the individuals who create the visual identities of our cities.

Music changes us, guides us, and elevates us. It can also motivate us to take part in the fabric of what’s being built around us, before the environmental scaffolding is up and the passive path we’re on swallows us whole.

It cuts through the clutter of false abundance, reveals the truth, and inspires participation. I hope Scaffold Sounds can do its part here.

Launches Friday at Noon est.

Andrew Arocho’s The Odyssey at Quiet Hours. Images by @zacharybalber

The show is up for another week @quiethours.space with a closing ceremony on Feb 13th. It’s always a privilege building an artist’s world inside the small format space, while continuing a through line between local story, the artist’s story, and the Quiet Hours mission of creating space for face to face. Looking back in my notes app 2018, 2019, 2020, Quiet Hours is just a gut feeling realized.

I met Andrew through a friend (Arsimmer) in November. That night I saw some of his work and wrote to a friend back in New York, maybe a solo show in March 2026.

Don’t wait for the inevitable. We opened 2026 with @andrew.a.studio’s movement into sculpture, in conversation with a body of work that touched on his past, and Miami’s, but emphasizing the commitment forward. The feeling we wanted to create was more a physical encounter with abstraction, the momentary push and pulls of old self and new. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones blaring in the gallery in the 2 weeks leading up, late night jazz during install the nights before.

We always want to leave layers to be discovered for those who are interested, to design the space with how people enter it, flow through it, and eventually exit it, in mind. So come on by and talk shop.

Local Research for The Odyssey, a solo exhibition by Andrew Arocho. As we build the show it’s important to understand references and context, while leaving room for discovery outside of the gallery. Miami is a ‘young’ city rich with history if you go looking for it. The environment subconsciously informs the work long before we pick up on it.

Keep an eye out for more info on this in particular. May physically print our references / images taken in the lead up to the show on the 15th. ✍️ taken in Miami, Florida by @macayado
