Nearly a year in the making, Principal Percussionist Trevor Barroero’s new children’s book, “The Percussion Triplets Take a Trip to a Basketball Game”, comes to life with the TSO Percussion Quartet on October 17, 2026!

Come hear original music for basketballs, brooms, cereal boxes, squeaky straws and more (in addition to timpani, marimbas, vibraphone, and drum set) as we follow the adventures of “Strike”, “Scrape”, and “Shake” as they join their dad on a musical adventure to a basketball game!

📅 Saturday, October 17

📍 Tucson Symphony Center

🎟️ Both performances are FREE, but reservations are required. Percussion shows tend to fill up quickly (reserve your tickets at tucsonsymphony.org!)

The journey to find four correctly tuned glasses for Michael Daugherty’s “Diamond in the Rough” trio for violin, viola, and percussion was quite the adventure…but after four trips to different goodwills in Tucson, we found them! An absolute pleasure to share the stage in rehearsals and concerts with Vadim and Julian this past week at @musicinthemountainsfestival. by @marimbarr

It’s good to have options 🤫

When playing softly on tambourine, there’s no one-size-fits-all option. Trevor Barroero demonstrates several techniques to get your dynamics whisper quiet. check out the full Tambourine 101 video and the whole Percussion 101 series at the link in bio.
