INDULGE x @unknown.onstage

It was such an honour to have shared my first stage work at the unknown showcase. Thank you to my beautiful cast for the hard work, talent and unique energy you each brought to the piece 💗

In a society where women’s sexual expression is policed, stifled, and shamed, this piece is about taking that power back and choosing to express yourself unapologetically regardless of the double standards we face.

Sexuality is a human part of life. Something that can hold power, beauty, and freedom, rather than shame. Owning that expression in whatever way feels authentic is a celebration of being human.

Huge thank you to @victorlauu for trusting me to create a piece for the show. Your mentorship, support and belief in me have meant so much and helped me unlock new levels of creativity, leadership, and confidence in myself.

Thank you to @alyceawood , @mazdiggity and @billygrimaldimilla for your support, guidance, and encouragement throughout the show process and the entire year. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve poured into us.

We are so thrilled to introduce our next guest instructor ✨ Meet Marissa, bringing an undeniable power to the studio this coming Friday 👠

Marissa is a Vancouver-based dancer who grew up training and competing in technical styles like ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. As an adult, she has expanded her training into heels, jazz funk, and various hip hop styles, with a strong focus on heels over the past four years.

Her training has led to opportunities teaching beginner heels classes, where she loves helping dancers build confidence and feel more comfortable in their movement. She is currently a member of Victor Lau’s competitive team, Pulse, and continues to grow her performance and artistry through ongoing training.

Marissa is passionate about helping dancers tap into their alter ego and find freedom in self-expression through movement.

@nadia___white’s piece helped me unlock a new level of vulnerability in my movement. With this piece I wanted to remove any masks, ideas of what’s pretty, what’s sexy, what’s elegant, what’s confident; boiling it down to what’s truthful.
