Moments from Glanio ym Machynlleth 🌻

Still so much we are reflecting on, celebrating, and learning after such a powerful collective experience that was Glanio yn Machynlleth 💚

Beyond grateful for all of the wonderful humans who have connected with this project in a multitude of ways, the incredible artists we collaborated with, inspiring folks who came along to the workshops, danced with us, joined us in collective movement and shared such profound reflections, thank you to everyone who co-created these precious moments of being together 💚

So many seeds planted: cultivating meaningful connections, collective care, ecological consciousness, and creating space for imagining alternative futures together 🌱

Excited to be returning to Glanio in Llandrindod and for what emerges through this process 🌻

Watching time fly and it's rather scary 🙃

(as is sharing 'photo shoot' esque pictures but there we go)

Another year with a realm of highs and lows, failures, learnings, fears, joys, doubts, gratitude, moments of hibernation from the world, overwhelm, anger, peaceful times, euphoric times, meaningful connections, shifting perspectives, shifting location, and a myriad of other happenings.

No doubt each year will bring further mish mashes of feelings and situations, and continue shaping the next moments in ways we are yet to know 👀

Apologies for a bit of a ramble of generic philisophical talk, but wishing everyone warmth, joy, health and much more for 2022 💗

🌱 Come along to our Branch Meeting focussed on Climate Justice, followed by a Summer Social at The Hidden Gardens, Tramway, Glasgow 🌱

Sunday 16 August
11.30am–1.00pm Branch Meeting
📍The Boiler House, The Hidden Gardens, Tramway, Glasgow

We’ll be joined by Equity Councillor and Green New Deal Equity’s Green New Deal Network member @marla_k.d to discuss how performers can help build a greener industry. We’ll explore campaigns for sustainable workplaces, making our union more environmentally responsible, and standing in solidarity with workers fighting for a just transition.

We’ll also be having a discussion about pencilling and members’ experiences of being held for potential work during the casting process. We want to hear from members about where pencilling happens, how often it leads to work, how long people are kept under a pencil, and whether being pencilled has ever meant turning down other work. Your experiences will help inform Equity’s developing work around contractual rights in casting and campaigning for pencilling to end.

1.00–3.00pm Summer Social
After the meeting, stick around, meet fellow members and enjoy some summer socialising. We can't guarantee the weather but we can make sure the snacks are great!!!

Not a member? You’re very welcome too! Come along, meet us, find out more about Equity, and hear why being part of a union matters for performers and creative workers.

Remember, a union is only as strong as its members. Being active, getting involved and sharing your experiences helps us build a stronger voice for performers and make real change across our industry. Come along, have your say, meet other members and find out how you can get involved. Promotional graphic reading “Equity Glasgow and West of Scotland — Branch Meeting and Summer Social.” The event takes place Sunday 16 August, with the branch meeting from 11.30am to 1pm and the summer social from 1pm to 3pm. The background shows a green garden path and the chimney of a brick industrial building. by @marla_k.d

🌿“If we define intelligence as the ability to solve life’s challenges through adaptability, then plants may be among the most intelligent beings on Earth.”
~ inspired by Michael Pollan 🌿

This thought completely shifted the way I look at the living world.

We often associate intelligence with speed, language, memory or problem-solving in ways that resemble ourselves. But plants ask us a different question.

What if intelligence is not about thinking faster, but about adapting? About finding countless ways to respond to changing conditions, to survive, to transform, and to keep creating life?

Plants have endured two mass extinctions. They communicate, cooperate, adapt and continuously reshape their environments, not through dominance, but through extraordinary resilience.

This became one of the starting points for Sensorial Symphonies.

What if we measured intelligence a little differently? Perhaps we would begin to recognise wisdom in forms of life we have overlooked for far too long.

✨Mat Iech - With You ✨

Mat Iech is our outreach programme for dance education and accessibility - a way of bringing dance closer to people, wherever they are.

We step outside traditional theatres and enter spaces of everyday life:
senior homes, hospitals, rural areas, youth centres -
to meet those who, for medical, geographical or financial reasons, are no longer able to come to the theatre.💫

Each encounter is unique. We adapt our work to the people we meet, creating moments of connection, dialogue, and shared experience. From performance to conversation to movement - from watching to participating, from observing to feeling part of something.

🫧Dance is not something to understand. It is something to feel.🫧

✨ And now, we are about to set off again for a new Mat Iech tour across Luxembourg with our brand new creation Florescence in Decay!

❗️Tomorrow our Spring Tour Dates will be revealed – keep your eyes peeled! ❗️

✨Meet our beautiful dancers of Florescence in Decay.✨

At the heart of this creation are five unique voices.
We asked them:
🐚
What is this piece for you?
What does transformation mean to you?
🐚
Five dancers. Five inner landscapes.
Their reflections remind us why we create -
to evolve, to connect, to become, together.

✨ Today, meet our dear Marla King.

Catch the premiere of Florescence in Decay on 30 April at CAPE Ettelbrück - a sensorial journey on transformation, interconnectedness, and the poetry of change.

✨It’s International Dance Day today! ✨

Dance is ephemeral -
it exists only for a moment,
and yet it transforms everything it touches.

Through bones, flesh, skin,
it moves into space and resonates within us -
opening worlds beyond the material.

At its core, dance is connection.
Between bodies and space,
between people, disciplines, and worlds.

At Elisabeth Schilling & Company,
we create spaces where art forms meet and move with each other - where dance, music, design and visual art intertwine, and where people are invited not only to watch, but to feel, reflect, and connect.

On this International Dance Day,
we celebrate this ever-changing, living art form -
and the connections it makes possible.

And tomorrow, we step into it -
with the premiere of Florescence in Decay – Reimagined.

✨„I was born: the matter I am made of does not belong to the present. I carry an ancient past and am destined for an unimaginable future. I am a heterogeneous, irreconcilable time, belonging to no single era, no single moment.“ ~Emanuele Coccia

Throughout the last week, we had the priviledge to continue our creation of Florescence in Decay at CAPE, Ettelbrück (@cape_ettelbruck ) moving steadily towards our premiere on 30 April.

Our creation is a work inspired by the book Metamorphoses by Emanuele Coccia:

✨What if the body is not “now”, but a crossing of times?
What if we are made of sediments, echoes, futures not yet lived? ✨

Florescence in Decay unfolds where past and future meet in the present body -
a space where time is layered, beyond human, alive and where every being is a being-with.

🌟Join us for the premiere! 🌟
