@prizepicks 1st sales hire 🎰 Inspiring Next Generation 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 1st w/ Hoverboard now w/ STEM innovation! @infento @us.riders 🏎️⚡️🤖 ✍️
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
When knockoff hoverboards started catching fire back in 2015, Dateline and ABC World News ran with it and suddenly every hoverboard looked dangerous. None of those were PhunkeeDuck units, but at 25 I learned the hard way that the public doesn’t separate brands in the middle of a media storm.

And so watching the headlines pile up on Anthropic every single day before its IPO, I’m getting some serious flashbacks. I’m not saying the company is broken, because a media storm and a bad business aren’t the same thing. But I’ve been on the inside of one of these waves, and it changes everything about how the public sees you.

Is the media coverage fair, or is this just what happens to anyone who gets this big this fast? Drop your take below 👇

Follow along because I’m breaking down every red flag I’ve seen before as this IPO plays out.

Back in 2015 my whole life changed in a parking lot. 🛹

We were out in California at a small boutique trade show with @phunkeeduck , riding our hoverboards around outside, when a guy named Dave walked up and asked to try one. He took it for a test drive, hopped off, and told us he wanted to bring it to his A-list celebrity clients. Not long after that, Kendall Jenner posted it and we woke up to 150 orders.

And so the lesson I keep coming back to is pretty simple. You never know who’s watching you, who’s admiring what you’re building, or who might want to go into business with you. Every demo, every conversation, every random lap around a parking lot could be the moment somebody decides to bet on you.

Ultimately, how you show up when you think nobody important is around is what gets your brand noticed.

Spent Sunday morning on the 7th floor of 1111 Lincoln Road doing push-ups next to Udonis Haslem and Bam Adebayo for the 8th annual #AnatomyHourPushUpChallenge 💪

Here’s how it works: you get one hour to do as many push-ups as you can, and people pledge for every rep. 100% of the money goes to the Udonis Haslem Foundation and Bam, Books & Brotherhood Foundation, which support kids and families across South Florida. Since it started, this challenge has raised more than $715,000.

Most weeks I’m the one in the room talking business and building things. Sunday I was the rookie trying to keep pace with guys who do this for a living, and I loved every minute of it. Our team got 1903 pushups! My arms are still recovering.

UD said it best: “This is Miami, we know how to show up for each other.” 🔥

Huge thank you to Team Anatomy for running this, and to UD Foundation for everything they do for kids in this city.

Follow along for more from the startup world, the stage, and the classroom, plus the occasional reminder that I’m not a pro athlete.

If you’re learning to code the way most schools teach it, a lot of what you’re memorizing is already on its way out. I’m not saying that from the outside looking in, either. I spend a ton of my time inside classrooms across 11 districts in 7 states, and I still see students grinding through WordPress and CMS courses that look a lot like what students were learning 20 years ago, while AI can now build that same website from a single prompt.

And so the real question is what still matters. Hands down, it’s learning to think like a computer scientist. Loops, logic and conditionals aren’t going anywhere, but they hit completely different when you’re using them to build something real instead of filling in a worksheet.

That’s where it gets pretty cool. Students take the robotics code they write on a screen and put it onto a vehicle they built with their own hands, then compete with it and ride it around. At your age, that’s the moment coding stops feeling like homework and starts feeling like the coolest thing you do all day.

Ultimately, the students who learn to think, build and use AI the right way are the ones who’ll be ready for robotics, autonomous vehicles and whatever comes next. Follow along if you want to see what the next generation of builders is creating inside real classrooms.

Little me watching these guys on TV would not believe this one 🏀

This weekend I spent two days at PAC, the @ProAthleteCommunity here in Miami, networking with collegiate and pro athletes who are taking everything they built in sports and bringing it into the business world.

Then I sat down at a roundtable with athletes I grew up admiring, and they were asking ME about business. Startups, sales, going viral, failing, all of it. Fifteen years of stories since college, and suddenly the people I used to cheer for were the ones taking notes.

It took me right back to my time at Flatiron School in NYC, where I’d see how much the discipline, grit, and resilience athletes have translates straight into business. Seeing it up close again this weekend got me fired up.

Wild how life comes full circle when you keep showing up. The roles flipped, and it turned into a real mentor and mentee moment I’ll be thinking about for a while.

Spent the weekend at PAC, @proathletecommunity here in Miami, and I’m still buzzing. Two days of networking with collegiate and pro athletes who are taking everything they built in sports and bringing it into business. The discipline, the grit, the resilience, all of it translates, and seeing them in the same room as business leaders was pretty cool to be part of.

The moment that got me most was sitting at a roundtable with athletes I grew up watching, and having them ask me about the startups, the wins, and the faceplants from the last 15 years. I never pictured that switch flipping from fan to mentor, and I loved every minute of it.

Swipe through for the recap 👉

Pokémon cards weren’t some brand new invention. They took sports trading cards, something people had been collecting and swapping for decades, and put a creative spin on it with their own universe of characters.

And so by the late 90s, it took over the world.

If you’re sitting on the sidelines waiting for the perfect original idea, that’s the exact thing keeping you from starting. Find something people already love and make it yours.

The electric vehicles my students build come out of Amsterdam. The robots they code and compete with come out of Istanbul. So back in March when I met Mike, who runs The Miami Guide, and his wife Susan, I found out he’s tied to Amsterdam and she’s from Istanbul. That’s not a coincidence you ignore.

Months later we’re all in the same green room with the UD Foundation, who have been nothing but supportive of our STEM programs. Big love to @UDFoundation and @TheMiamiGuide for showing up for this community. 🙌

I’ve spent years trying to explain Infento and Riders to people. Turns out all it takes is handing them the keys 😂

Saturday at Hope for Tomorrow with the @udonishaslemfoundation was something special. Over 100 kids showed up to talk about mental health, and hearing UD share what he went through growing up had the whole room locked in.

And so getting to be even a small part of that day meant a lot. Sixth and seventh graders were riding the @infento vehicle and designing their own robots on @riders.ai, and @didiwongofficial and @miamiguide finally got to see everything I’ve been hyping up in person. Didi was out there taking laps around the conference hall like a pro 🏎️

What a Saturday with the @udonishaslemfoundation at Hope for Tomorrow 🙌

Over 100 kids under one roof at Miami Dade College North Campus, all learning about mental health, human connection, and how to keep a healthy relationship with technology. Hearing UD open up about what he went through as a kid was pretty eye opening, and you could feel the whole room lock in.

This year’s theme was Community over Clicks, and with an AI & Healthy Technology Use Workshop on the lineup, the message was clear: tech should bring kids together, not pull them apart. That’s exactly why we brought @Infento and @Riders.ai . Watching sixth and seventh graders ride laps around the hall in an electric vehicle, then design and program their own robot, was the kind of screen time I can get behind. And the adults couldn’t resist either.

Shoutout to @didiwongofficial for taking the @Infento for a spin herself 😂

Huge thank you to UD and the entire @udonishaslemfoundation team, @drtbrainlovefoundation , @unitedwaybroward , and @mdcollege for putting this together.

Big love to @themiamiguide & @didiwongofficial , and to every teacher, student, and family who stopped by the booth.

The wildest stat I heard all week at Miami Tech Week.

@tristanharris got on the keynote stage and broke down the race for top tech talent right now, and the number he dropped shocked the whole room.

Some of the most sought after engineers on the planet are getting signing bonuses north of $300 million dollars. Not salary. The bonus just to sign on, or to get poached from one company to the next. The Googles and Metas of the world throwing that kind of money at a single hire.

Three hundred million dollars to land just one person. That’s the level this AI arms race is actually at.

24 hours. New York City. What are we going to get done? 🗽

Got a last minute invite to the World Trade Center during UN General Assembly week for Change Accelerated Live with @fiaformulae and @infosys_foundation_usa . It was an easy yes, because rooms like this are full of people doing big things in the STEM world ⚡

Walked through Grand Central, got up close with the next gen Formula E race car, met world champion @lucasdigrassi, and left with one takeaway I keep thinking about: there’s no reason to be optimistic if you don’t have hope 🏁

Some of the best opportunities come in last minute. Say yes, show up prepared, and make every hour count.
