Baby bonnets will be available in a new range of colours @thetoysheddunkeld this year. They are hand knitted in the same alpaca / wool blend yarn and they have a lovely, cosy fit, perfect for the incoming cold weather. They come in sizes 0-6m, 6-12m and 1-2 years. These will heading off to Dunkeld soon.

Some new mitten colours heading to @ccc_gallery in Cambridge soon, along with matching beanies and berets. Cambridge Contemporary Crafts is a wonderful shop in central Cambridge dedicated to handmade ceramics, jewellery, prints, textiles and more, all from UK craftspeople.

It’s that time of year again when I’m sending out autumn / winter orders. Here’s a sneak peak at some hats and mittens heading to @bettyandthebrands in Brighton. Betty and the Brands customers seem to like an eclectic mix of accessories so it’s fun to play with colours and provide some one-of-a-kind pieces. It’s a great shop with an ever-expanding range of products made by individual makers. Well worth a visit!

Finished my stripy tshirt apart from weaving in the ends. I’m now kicking myself that I didn’t learn a weave as you go method 😅 Next time! This is made entirely from odds and ends of yarn leftover from other projects.

Progress on my multicoloured raglan Tshirt. This is knitted top down in the round and is completely seamless. I’m using up leftover yarn from other projects and there will be a huge number of ends to weave in 😅 Got a bit more to go on the body then the bottom rib. Finally, the sleeve stitches will be picked up and knitted in the round.

I have been wanting to make a vest for ages and finally got round to it! Quite pleased with how it’s turned out. There were plenty of stretches of mindless stocking stitch knitting in the round to keep it meditative with some shaping and new techniques to keep it interesting. I finally learned how to graft invisible shoulder seams.

Mittens in the making. Step-by-step showing each stage, from the cuffs, then increasing for the thumb section, top half and finally the thumb then weave in the ends. I like to knit on four double pins and do each section for both mittens as I go. If I finish one mitten completely then I never want to make the second one! Some people make the two mittens simultaneously using the magic loop method on circular needles but I’ve never managed that 😅 I don’t know how long these take as I knit in little bursts here and there but looking at some mitten patterns and kits that state how long the projects take, they typically take 4-5 hours 😊 These are made using an aran weight wool / alpaca blend on 5mm needles.

Revisiting these little cotton kids’ hats, adding some new colours and sizes. I first made these a couple of years ago and then got sidetracked but they are fun to make and the cotton comes in so many lovely colours so I decided to add a few more to the range. They aren’t for sale anywhere yet - working on that next!
