When someone shows up with enthusiasm and interest, you remember. When Eric and I read the Beach Santa story together at Children’s Specialized Hospital, it was truly special. Many of those kids lit up when Eric spoke with them. It was the power of a story allowing others to connect and it was a privilege to watch. If you are a child life specialist, a hospital admin or anyone who brings impactful events to children, I would like to talk with you. I 💛 @pieladybooks! She seems like an awesome human and I applaud her bad ass pie-book business. Since I can’t afford her just yet….I’m giving this a go. To celebrate 3/14 Pi day, I’m attempting to decorate a Beach Santa pie on my own. 😬. Enjoy this BTS glimpse of my all star culinary skills 😉and my BOOK pie on a budget! “Santa has big plans to kick back and relax AND catch a fish 🎣 but just as he casts his line, he’s called to action. Does he ever get a day off? Does he ever catch a fish? He ultimately catches something, but it may not be what you think!!.” Happy Pi day, all y’all!! 🥧 special thanks to Sara Lee.

If you are new here…Hi! I’m MB Paradise and here’s my story in a few words…
Before I was a children's book author, I was a teenager with a paint roller and a dream. I started my own interior painting business in high school to put myself through college. No rich parents and no hand outs.

I didn't know it then, but I was practicing for something bigger.

Years later, I found myself inspired by the many athletes that had worked with during my years as an Athletic Trainer. One athlete’s story really struck a chord and lit a fire under me. Eric LeGrand — a former DI athlete, suffered a paralyzing neck injury and has gone on to do amazing things. He’s a broadcaster, author, serial entrepreneur, and philanthropist. His story reminded me that it takes grit and guts and strength to get back up after you’ve been knocked down.

So I wrote Beach Santa 🎅🏖️, a story that had been in my heart for years.

It’s a fun book with hand-drawn illustrations, inspired by a true story, about an off-the-clock Santa who never takes a day off from being generous. And because of Eric's inspiration, I donate a portion of book sales to Team LeGrand.

Despite not having any publishing experience OR any book 📚 industry connections, I have sold 5,600+ copies.

If you have an idea that keeps tugging at you… maybe this is your sign to start! Your idea IS worth betting on. LG!! 🐚

Between 2 Books.

Instead of ‘Between 2 Ferns’…welcome to ‘Between 2 Books’ a chance to shoutout some authors that I’ve met IRL and give one observation of each. Some are well known, others are rookies. Either way, they had the 🔥 to write and the discipline to get their book(s) over the 🏁 finish line. ✊ . Up next #ericlegrand and his book Believe🔥 Observation: Even a professional-circus-fire juggler 🤹 would be humbled watching Eric juggle all his business and community outreach events by @mbparadiseauthor

This JUST hit me!!! After you write a book, people ask if you are writing a sequel. Fair question. Then it hit me. 203 years AFTER a classic was written, I wrote the sequel to it. Beach Santa IS a modern twist on ‘Twas the Night’. Plus Beach Santa is on a bigger mission. A mission that wants to be the reason we find a cure for spinal cord injuries, a mission that brings awareness to ♿️inclusion in children’s lit. One that tells the story of belief. Belief in your own ideas and creativity. It tells the story of perseverance: characters that won’t give up AND a frustrated writer who could never get published that just wouldn’t quit. So IF you 💛 Twas the night…check out Beach Santa. 🏖️🎅🏽Link in bio. #beachsanta #author #kidsbooks #christmasbooks #perseverance by @mbparadiseauthor

To celebrate the GOAT, Miss Dolly Parton, I’m sharing a snippet of the letter I wrote her back in March 2024. I have a feeling her team sent my letter to the recycle bin BECAUSE Dolly believed in underdogs and I 💯 think she would’ve given me a shot. On another note, I’ll never forget the day when I saw my book next to hers at a bookstore! Or the time me and @saltybookworm recorded a song for Dolly. 🎤 🎶 Long live the @imaginationlibrary and if all y’all want to reconsider ordering my book, I’d be honored. #literacy #books #kidsbooks #givingback #dollyparton by @mbparadiseauthor
