A different Spring in a new phase…

When we moved to this house, one of the priorities was to have a garden for our pets, but little did I know it would become so relevant to me.

I always liked plants and have been adding more and more to my indoor collection in the past decade/ The renovation of the house, coinciding with health, work and life situations, got me to a whole other level of stress/ Apparently, that was not enough and we added a puppy to the family in November.

After all this (and more), in the past months we started working on the garden. The long days carrying dirt, sand, stones, pallets, chasing snails, killing pests, repotting, seeding, watering plants, and so on, got me a bit of a tan, a scar, but most of all, it has helped immensely with slowing down the pace and calming my mind.

You hear how gardening can be therapeutic, how “trendy” it is becoming to grow your own food, and that many people from my generation are getting into such habit. But honestly, I underestimated its relevance to one’s mind and routine.

Every now and then, while working with the plants I notice the parallels with life and get inspired to develop new projects. But at the moment, having somewhat disappeared from social life for a long while, I just want to finish this school year, enjoy some time off out in the garden, reset, meet friends, and get ready for the new year ahead.

This is a very long caption and I wonder what kind of relationship I even want with social media these days, and if this is relevant to anyone. But today is my birthday and after finishing work for the day, I sorta celebrated having video calls with loved ones from my garden/ greenhouse, and wanted to share a few memories from these past months with you.

Hoping to share more design related news ahead, with a new practice structure and how it’s all linked. However, thats for a new chapter later on. Good night! taken in Leidschendam-Voorburg by @mchaccur

“It’s the end of an era” some people texted me when saw stories with this apartment being emptied.

Today we signed the contract passing it on to the next owner, and that felt like closing a chapter, which was very full of extreme ups and downs, twists and turns. Nonetheless, it’s where my own family grew, and together with @vanbroekhovenjeroen and our pets, we are off to a new lovely home.

Thank you all for “sharing this space” with me/ us! taken in The Hague, Netherlands by @mchaccur

Hundreds of type related links and more to come. Typebase was a valuable resource for type designers, typographers, teachers and students. After over a decade, the website is back, in a joint effort of Donald Roos and Marina Chaccur, using the platform Brandbook.io to facilitate the work.

Still hundreds of links to be added, but the beta mode is up, featuring MD IO Ultra by @mass.driver in the headers and IBM Plex by @boldmonday for the text. Check it out: type base.com by @mchaccur
