When the joke is so funny you have to CLENCH 😭😂 If you know, you know.

Laughing, sneezing, jumping… sometimes your pelvic floor has other plans.

Bladder leaks are common, but that doesn’t mean you have to just put up with them 🧡

Let’s make bladder health less taboo, one laugh at a time.

That sudden “I NEED TO PEE NOW” feeling? Here are some pelvic floor exercises that can help with that urge

When bladder urgency strikes, your first instinct might be to rush straight to the toilet. But there are simple techniques that can help you calm the urge and regain control.

In this video, we show you how to:
🧡 slow your breathing
🧡 use your pelvic floor
🧡 shift your focus away from the urge
🧡 wait for the sensation to settle before walking calmly to the toilet

These techniques form part of bladder training, which can help you gradually increase the time between toilet trips

[AD] When was the last time you laughed so much you nearly wet yourself? It happens more often if you have bladder issues - and that’s a reality for one in three of us.

That’s 14 million people! So it’s important that we talk openly about bladder and pelvic health.

We hit the streets of London to speak with women - to TRY to make them laugh, because life is too short to stop laughing in case we leak - and to talk about bladder health.

@meet.jude offer a range of bladder supplements to help us feel more confident in living our lives to the max.

I talk a lot about feeling confident as we get older.
But sometimes it’s the things we DON’T talk about that affect our confidence the most.

Bladder health is one of them.

And if we’re going to challenge the taboos around ageing, let’s challenge this one too.

Because getting older shouldn’t mean making our lives smaller and I’m happy to share information that helps ❤️

HRT and your bladder: it’s more complicated than you might think 👀

We talk a lot about HRT during menopause, but much less about what different types of oestrogen can mean for your bladder.

As oestrogen levels change during menopause, urinary symptoms can become more common, including urgency, frequency, incontinence and recurrent UTIs.

But oestrogen isn’t simply “good” or “bad” for the bladder.
Systemic HRT and local vaginal oestrogen act differently. Research has found that systemic HRT can have different effects on urinary incontinence, while vaginal oestrogen can help with genitourinary symptoms.

And, as always, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer.

If you’ve noticed changes in your bladder since starting, stopping or changing HRT, it’s worth talking to your healthcare provider rather than simply putting the symptoms down to menopause.
Because bladder health is health 🧡

What happens when grape seed extract meets pelvic floor muscle cells?

Our scientists recently found something interesting in the lab.
When pelvic floor muscle cells were treated with grape seed extract, researchers observed a 42% relative increase in slow-twitch muscle fibres, the type of muscle fibre associated with sustained, endurance-based activity.

So why does that matter for the pelvic floor?

Your pelvic floor is working throughout the day, helping support your pelvic organs and contributing to bladder and bowel control. That makes the biology of these muscle fibres particularly interesting to researchers.

But here’s the important bit: this was a laboratory study using isolated cells. It doesn’t tell us that grape seed extract makes the pelvic floor stronger or improves bladder symptoms in humans. We need human research to understand whether this cellular finding translates into a meaningful health benefit.

And that’s what makes early-stage research so exciting: one finding gives scientists a new question to investigate 🔬

We talk about hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, brain fog and aching joints in menopause... but there’s another part of getting older that we don’t talk about nearly enough.....our bladder.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jane. I’m a Menopause Support Mentor, I’ve been supporting women for well over a decade, and I’ve got plenty of lived experience of menopause myself.

And as I’ve got older, I’ve definitely become much more aware of looking after my bladder and wanting to feel confident and in control, particularly when I’m out and about.

So when Jude @meet.jude approached me and asked if I’d like to try their bladder care supplements, I was genuinely interested.

And I’m interested not just for myself, but because I speak to so many women going through menopause who tell me that bladder health is something they’ve become much more aware of as they’ve got older.

I also know there are women in my community who are interested in more natural options and supplements that they can incorporate into their everyday routine, so I’m really interested to see how I get on with Jude and share my own experience with you.

And here’s something I didn’t know ...... two thirds of your bladder is muscle.

Just like the other muscles in our body, we can lose muscle strength as we age.

Jude has been researched with urogynaecologists and is formulated with natural ingredients at clinically studied doses to support the muscles behind bladder control.

The supplements are also vegan and gluten-free, which I know will be important for quite a few of you.

So I’m going to make Jude part of my daily routine and give it a proper go.

I’m right at the beginning of this, so I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s made a difference when I haven’t given it enough time.

I’m going to use it consistently and then come back and share my own experience with you.

Because we’re getting much better at talking openly about menopause and ageing, and I think bladder health deserves to be part of that conversation too.

So... watch this space. I’II let you know how I get on it 🙌

What do you do when you REALLY need a wee but can’t get to a toilet? 👀

We asked the public… and apparently the answer is:
🎧 Listen to a podcast
🎶 Sing a song
📱 Get on your phone
🧠 Think about literally anything else

And honestly, distraction isn’t a completely random strategy. When managing urinary urgency, bladder training can involve focusing your attention away from the bladder and using techniques to help ride out the urge.

So, what’s your go-to distraction? #bladderhealth #incontinence #bladderproblems #overactivebladder #pelvicfloorhealth by @meet.jude
