Signal to Noise explores how artists work with, challenge, or complicate the relationship between signals and noise—disruptions, glitches or interference—in communication technologies and the messages they send. These technologies include the internet, telephones, radio and television, artificial intelligence, social media algorithms, and even the sounds of the natural world.

Inspired by lichen, one of earth’s oldest and slowest-growing organisms, this series translates its organic spread into woven structure. Variations in thread density build a dimensional topography that grows across the cloth. Created during our residency at @praxisfiberworkshop this past spring. by @messinicole

Soft Friction opens May 15 at The Blanc in NYC. Craftwork Collective is sharing new woven work from our residency at the Praxis Digital Weaving Lab @praxisfiberworkshop, plus a sneak peek of our film The Domestic Machine.

The opening is May 15, 6–8pm at 15 E 40th St, New York, come say hi! 🧵
