When pain becomes normal, you don't even realize you're living with it.

Thinking foot pain only lasted until noon, a practitioner delivered a powerful realization: the pain never actually stopped—the body just went numb to it. Recognizing when you've tuned out chronic pain is a crucial step in physical recovery.

I think the Achilles' heel for most of us is alcohol, man.

Taking an extended break from drinking reveals just how much better every part of the body can actually feel.

As time goes by, tolerance drops and recovery takes much longer. Comparing drinking to working out—if you haven't done it in years, the recovery period is going to be rough.

As an 18 Charlie handling demo, explosive shockwaves were just part of the routine.

Detonating two Claymore mines on the back side of a massive tree seemed safe enough, but when those charges blew, the shockwave came right around that trunk. It knocked the air straight out of their lungs and shook their entire bodies—an everyday event in uniform that carries lasting physical effects.

We just returned from 2 weeks of training at Khongsittha Muay Thai @khongsittha in Thailand. One thing really stood out: preparing before you arrive makes a HUGE difference.

Many Muay Thai gyms in Thailand offer training packages with 2 sessions a day, ranging from a few days to several months or even a year.

At Khongsittha Muay Thai, the schedule offered: Morning runs, Morning Muay Thai, Afternoon Muay Thai, HYROX / fitness and Yoga classes.

We never missed a single Muay Thai group session during the entire 2-weeks.

On top of the 2 daily group sessions, we added five 1-hour private lessons between the morning and afternoon sessions. That meant some days we trained 3 times a day.

What surprised me was that although many people had packages that included twice-a-day training, we rarely saw people consistently attend both sessions. A lot of people were barely making one.

I believe the preparation we did before arriving in Thailand made it much easier for us to acclimate to the heat, workload, and daily training schedule.

A few things that worked for me:

-DON'T WAIT UNTIL THAILAND TO GET IN SHAPE
We prepared beforehand by working out 2-4 times per week. You don't need to already be in fight shape, but arriving with some conditioning makes a big difference.

-SUPPLEMENT AFTER TRAINING
Right after the morning session, I drank a meal-replacement shake with protein and vitamins.

-HYDRATE
I drank approximately 1.5 liters of water during each training session.

-REPLACE ELECTROLYTES
I drank electrolytes at night before bed..

-NUTRITION
I took a multivitamin after the 2nd training sessions.

-SLEEP
I made sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep. When training 2-3 times a day, recovery is important.

-MINIMIZE OR SKIP ALCOHOL
If your goal is to train, alcohol can hurt your hydration, sleep, recovery, and the next day's training.

Bottom line, If you're paying to travel to Thailand and train Muay Thai, prepare before you get there. We high recommend Khongsittha Muay Thai and their TRAIN & STAY Packages.

Gas prices. Flight costs. Food. Hotel. Ammo. I get it. Everything is getting more and more expensive to go train. But what are the real costs of NOT training? by @michael.green.18f

Happy Birthday Green Berets!!! I am so privileged and honored to have served with some of the finest men in the WORLD! On 19 June 1952, the first Special Forces Group was activated, 10th SFG (A), at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, under the command of Colonel Aaron Bank. Interesting enough it is also the same day back in 1942 that the US Army 1st Ranger Battalion
“Darby’s Rangers” was established.

On 17 June 1983, the Department of Defense authorized the Special Forces Tab. It is a service school qualification tab of the U.S. Army, awarded to soldiers completing the Special Forces Qualification Course at the U.S. Army John F.
Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Soldiers who are awarded the Special Forces Tab are authorized to wear it and the Green Beret for the remainder of their military careers, even when not serving in a Special Forces command. To all my Special Forces brothers,
