TEN YEARS or exactly 3,652 days ago, I stood in front of friends and family and made a declaration before the world:

"Emma, I promise to love you here and there. I promise to love you everywhere. I promise to love you in the rain and the snow. I promise to love you. Oh, the places we'll go!"

Ten years, 4 kids, 3 dogs, 2 businesses, and 1 amazing life later, the best part is this: tomorrow I get to wake up married to my best friend for 3,653 days. And the next day, 3,654. And the next day, 3,655...

Today I got the chance to knock doors for someone I really believe in: @katrinamanetta

Life is busy, and I honestly wish I could do more. But I’m supporting Kat for a lot of reasons. She’s honest. She won’t bend to corporate donors or special interests. She gets that people care about their families, their bills, their jobs, their neighborhoods, and whether government actually works.

We don’t need more politicians focused on pointless partisan fights. We need people willing to roll up their sleeves and fight for everyday people.

📢 We have to stop rewarding the loudest politicians and start demanding results.

That starts with supporting good people like Katrina Manetta for State Representative, showing up, and voting.

Happy Birthday to the First Edition! 🎉🎂 Michael Howard Sr.

The OG. The one who started it all. My father is the hardest working man I know. He taught me what it means to work hard, love your family, protect what matters, and always show up.

As I get older, I appreciate more and more the things I may not have understood when I was younger. I’m grateful for the foundation you built and for the boots I now get to strive to fill.

For a year, our family lived just outside of Washington, D.C. That year was 2001.

As a kid, I vividly remember driving past the Pentagon while one of its wedges was undergoing major construction. I often thought about that building. To me, it was a symbol of protection, and I remember thinking that one day I would get a chance to see the inside.

The Pentagon was built during wartime, with construction beginning on September 11, 1941. The builders could never have known that this building would one day become an even greater symbol of America’s resilience.

On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, while we were campaigning for third grade class president, we learned that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. At first, we thought it was just a terrible plane crash.

Then, about an hour later, we learned that another plane had crashed into the Pentagon.

Into the same wedge we had driven past so many times.

And yet, she still stood.

Freedom still stood. Protection still stood.

That day took 2,977 innocent lives. At the Pentagon alone, 184 people were killed. In the years that followed, thousands of first responders, rescue workers, recovery workers, and others would also lose their lives to illnesses connected to the aftermath of 9/11.

Today, we remember every life that was cut short.

We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who never got to say goodbye, and the countless people who gave of themselves in the days, months, and years that followed.

And we remain focused on the best of America: freedom, resilience, service, and our shared responsibility to fight for the common good.

The greatest joy is doing what you love with the people you love.

These not so little ones could be doing a hundred other things, but they choose to hang out with Daddy, get their hands dirty, and build something together.

We’re not just building furniture. We’re building memories, teaching our kids to create with their hands, and building a family legacy one project at a time.

That’s the kind of work that means the most. ❤️🪵

Yesterday, we spent the day at Center Line High School’s Back to School Picnic! We wandered over to the Community Victory Garden and picked some fresh berries and summer squash. 🌱🥒

I love seeing our community come together, getting kids excited for the school year, and celebrating the incredible resources right in our own backyard.

One of my favorite things about woodworking is getting to create something that has meaning behind it. We made this custom sign for a couple’s wedding and then built a back for it so they could bring it home and display it for years to come.

We love knowing that something we made will become part of their home, their memories, and their story. That’s what Howard Family Designs is all about. We aren’t just building things out of wood, we’re building pieces that become part of people’s lives. ❤️
