🩺 Standing on the picket line with our nurses is the easy part.
They are the ones doing the hard work every single day, caring for our loved ones, saving lives, and holding our healthcare system together despite impossible conditions.

Michigan needed to pass Safe Staffing legislation yesterday.
You wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant that's chronically understaffed. 🍽️ You wouldn't want to shop at a grocery store that doesn't have enough workers to serve customers. 🛒 So why do we continue to tolerate hospitals being deliberately understaffed while corporate profits and shareholder returns come first?

Safe staffing isn't just about supporting nurses. It's about patient safety. It's about quality care. It's about making sure that when your child, spouse, parent, or grandparent needs help, there are enough trained professionals at the bedside to provide it.

Our nurses deserve better. Our patients deserve better. Michigan deserves better.

✊🏾 Pass Safe Staffing now.

Saturday I attended our annual Legacy Women’s Luncheon and the Legacy Dinner, and it was a blessing to reconnect with so many friends from across the state. There were many powerful speeches, but two messages rose above the rest and stayed with me. Not just as inspiration, but as instruction. Hope and unity.

“The world you see outside of you is a reflection of what you carry inside of you. If you look at my neighborhood and all you see is problems and darkness and despair, then that is all there will ever be. But if you are one of those people who, every time you open your eyes, you see hope, you see opportunity, you see love, you see the face of God, then you can be one of those people who helps me.’”

“Too many people say, ‘I don’t agree with her [VP Harris] on everything. I agree with her 90 percent of the time, but that 10 percent I just can’t accept.’ But while you are holding onto that 10 percent, you end up allowing someone into office you disagree with on everything. Someone who is locking up our children. Someone who is taking away our health care. Someone who is attacking workers’ rights. Someone who is dismantling education. So let me say this, as the son of a Michigander. Everyone has their perspectives, but I am not interested in the "Michigan Hand" after the convention. I am not interested in the "Michigan Hand" after the August primary. I want Michigan FIST 👊🏾✊🏾.

Moments like this remind me what we choose to see shapes what we choose to build, and what we choose to build determines the future we leave behind.

This was my first time walking in Detroit's St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I joined IBEW Local 58. I'm greatful for all the work IBEW does in our community and gladly join in their fight for the working women and men of Michigan. It was great seeing so many friends that I had went seen in many, many years. We also ran into some folks working to keep our streets less spooky 👻 👻

🧡 It was my pleasure. Yesterday, I spent the day with my @giffords_org family and Congresswoman @gabbygiffords herself. I am proud of all the work we do as gun ownership who fight for common sense legislation. Thank you Jonathan Gold for your leadership and your friendship and your confidence in me. Thank you Kelly Neumann for being gracious host and supporting the cause!

🧡 Gabby is resilience and a unfortunate reminder that gun violence respects no zip code, no faith, no party, and no human. I call on my fellow gun owners to lead the charge and protect our communities by fighting for common sense gun legislation. Giffords Gun Owners for Safety

It was an honor to meet Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett during her visit to Detroit at the home of the DNC Black Caucus Chair Virgie Rollins. Being in that room with her and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist reminded me of the power we hold when leaders come together with purpose and conviction.

Congresswoman Crockett spoke about our need to have courage that is rare in politics today and to dig deeper in the moment of history. She flew in from Texas to endorse our LG Garlin Gilchrist to become Michigan’s next Governor. And she did it because she believes deeply in leadership rooted in service, justice, and opportunity for all.

I am grateful for her example and for the continued support of our Lt. Governor. Garlin has been paving the way for a new generation of leadership, and I am proud to stand with him as we work to lift up Detroit, Warren, and every community that deserves to be seen, heard, and fought for.

Ope! Look who I ran into! I had the opportunity to speak with Governor Walz during his visit to Macomb County, and I have to say—he’s incredibly down-to-earth. Felt like we could have just as easily bumped into each other at the local hardware store while buying lumber.
💝🎀💝🎀
I wore this pink vest and tie in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, a close friend was diagnosed at just 41. With 1 in 8 women in the U.S. facing an invasive breast cancer diagnosis, it’s a reminder to all of us: prioritize those screenings, take care of your health, and encourage loved ones to do the same.

Last night, Detroit, Macomb County, Michigan, and the real Slim Shady stood up for VP Kamala Harris and Governor Walz. It was great spending the day with my favorite Congresswoman, Haley Stevens, and State Rep. Donavan McKinney. And hearing that familiar message of hope from President Barack Obama made my night. BUT hope alone is not a plan. We need to use these final days to make sure EVERYONE exercises their right to VOTE!

Had a busy day today! I spent it driving around with the future Vice President, Governor Tim Walz.
◇
Several local leaders and I asked the campaign to come to Macomb County, and they responded by visiting both North and South Macomb. It’s great to see them listening to local leaders and showing how much they value Macomb County.
◇
We know that as Macomb goes, so goes Michigan—and so goes America.

There are 42 days left before the November General Election. Not only am I on the ballot, justice, progress, and hope is on the ballot.

Justices and Judges are non-partisan and are not covered if you just vote straight ticket. (Justice is on the ballot)

After meeting Elissa Slotkin multiple times and hearing her speak, I believe that with her background, she will be a strong voice that can cross partisan lines to get stuff done like a border bill package. (Progress is on the ballot)

There are many great candidates up and down the ballot from school board to county prosecutor. I believe these folks, along with Megan Kola, Aisha Farooqi, and Mai Xiong, will deliver for their respective districts. When we cast our ballot, we are attempting to pick what kind of world we want to live in. (Hope is on the ballot)

At the end of the day, irregardless of what party you are a part of, love God, love people, and go vote.

Warren 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration 🎉❤️💚🖤💛

@votemichaelhoward and all of the sponsors did a great job making this happen 🤩

Our favorite parts were using the free splash pad located @cityofwarrenmichigan Civic Center, making bracelets with @papasianlibrary and getting some juices from @maddys_juicebar 😍 never disappoints!!

It was a packed house at the Michigan Democratic Party's annual Legacy Dinner last night! It was great to hear from Vice President Kamala Harris
and UAW President Sean Fain on the importance of this year's election. The highlight of the night was meeting Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett! #voteblue
