It’s publication day in the Uk and Ireland for our new book sweet seasons, it so nice to be here and celebrate sweet seasons whilst we are in the UK. Our next event is a pop up @ericslondon in London where we will bake form the book, and collaborate on a few surprises and bake sourdough breads together on Sunday 29th September from 10am.

I’m getting a lot of questions on these books at the moment. The one on the left is the original hardback version. That is now sadly out of print and going for a decent sum online 🤷🏻‍♂️ . The darker cover one on the right is the more recent updated and cheaper soft cover version, still widely available. if interested I have some signed soft covers left, so send me a DM or ask your local independent book store. 🙏 📚 #lockdownlife by @michaeljamesbakes

Occasionally I come across a recipe that really surprises me. This is a recipe by @michaeljamesbakes and it’s simply called a Heavy Cake. It’s a traditional Cornish recipe and is something I was keen to try but dubious about liking it. Well, while it’s not the prettiest of bakes, it’s absolutely delicious! It’s kind of like a giant oval scone packed with currants and made with a combination of butter & lard. This cake is so moreish and will definitely be on my repeat list. Best served warm shortly after cooking or zapped in the microwave if there’s anything left… and perfect with a bit of butter. by @michaeljamesbakes

The crunch of toasted oats and the nutty joys of peanut butter join forces with sweetly tart raspberry jam in these irresistible cookie sandwiches from @michaeljamesbakes. 🥜⁣
⁣
For the ultimate homemade treat, skip the jar and make your own raspberry jam. It’s well worth the extra effort. 🧑‍🍳⁣

Mum requested a crumble cake for a lunch at my parents place so this Seasonal Fruit Crumble Cake made with apples and blackberries was what I chose to bake. Recipe thanks to @michaeljamesbakes The crumble topping is good. Made from a combination of brown sugar, plain and wholemeal flour, almonds, rolled oats and plenty of butter making the perfect topping. Apparently it was a big hit. by @michaeljamesbakes

I love a Carrot Cake but don’t often make it. So when a good friend who I know loves Carrot Cake was recovering from shoulder surgery, I had a good excuse to make one. Recipe thanks to @michaeljamesbakes This is a traditional recipe with plenty of walnuts and carrots and a delicious cream cheese icing. I was told it was the best! by @michaeljamesbakes

There are meat pies, and then there's THIS meat pie 🥧⁣

@michaeljamesbakes elevates a beloved pub classic into a deeply savoury, hearty winter winner. Featuring melt-in-your-mouth lamb shanks slow-braised in red wine, this recipe gets its magic from the addition of black garlic and rustic pearl barley. ⁣

This comforting bake is the ultimate weekend project. Comment 'Pie' for the recipe ✨⁣

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. These Cornish Pasties thanks to a recipe by @michaeljamesbakes are my idea of comfort food. Delicious pastry wrapping beef, swedes, potatoes and onions. I need to work a bit on my crimping skills. by @michaeljamesbakes
