My first fitness influencer was my mother.

Long before social media, I watched her live what wellness looked like. She walked around the house in ankle weights, exercised along with Jack LaLanne workouts on TV, played tennis and golf , ran marathons, coached and played softball, and always encouraged us to keep moving.

Now at almost 85, she’s still showing up for herself — walking regularly, doing Pilates, and strength training with grace and consistency.
She taught me that fitness isn’t about perfection or appearance… it’s about caring for your body, staying strong, and living fully at every age.

My personal Pilates practice is so important to me.

Every session teaches me something new about movement, strength, control, and connection. The lessons I learn on my own mat shape the way I teach, helping me better understand my clients’ experiences and guide them with more clarity, empathy, and confidence.

The best instructors never stop being students.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that more challenge = better results. But sometimes, your body needs feedback before it can create control.

Props in Pilates are so much more than something to make a reel look interesting. ✨

There’s been a lot of conversation about instructors using props “just for show,” and I think it’s worth remembering that not everything we post on Instagram is meant to be instructional.

When I use a prop, there’s always a reason. It might be to provide assistance, add resistance, improve alignment, increase body awareness, or simply challenge myself in a different way. Props are incredibly versatile, and they can change the experience of an exercise in so many positive ways.

That said, not every post is a tutorial. Sometimes I’m sharing movement, creativity, or simply having fun. Social media is a place to connect and inspire—it doesn’t always have to be a full lesson.

So yes, I’ll keep using my props with intention... and I’ll also keep enjoying the process. 🤍

It’s been almost 10 years since I had a herniated disc between my L1 and S5 vertebrae. And one piece of advice from my doctor has stayed with me ever since:

Treat the injury early.

It wasn’t just about getting out of pain—it was about preventing everything that comes after it.

When you ignore pain or limited mobility, your body starts to compensate. You move differently, avoid certain activities, lose strength, and before you know it, one issue can create a domino effect. A “big” or “small” injury can cause chronic pain, reduced mobility, decreased confidence, and limitations that affect your workouts—and even your everyday life.

The sooner you address the problem, the better your chances of recovering efficiently and preventing those compensations from becoming long-term habits.

Your body is designed to move. Taking care of it now means giving yourself the opportunity to keep lifting, running, hiking, playing with your children/grandchildren , or simply living without unnecessary limitations.

Don’t wait until pain forces you to stop doing what you love. Invest in your movement early so you can recover, rebuild, and continue pushing yourself physically for years to come.

Your future self will thank you.

ZOOM IN on that stabilizing leg 😜.The moving leg often gets all the attention, but in this reformer series the stabilizing leg is doing just as much—if not more—work.

While the gesture leg is creating the movement, the standing leg is responsible for maintaining pelvic stability, and controlling alignment. That means the glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and hip are all working isometrically to resist unwanted movement.

It’s a great reminder that in Pilates, the muscles creating stability are often working just as hard as the muscles creating motion. That’s one of the reasons reformer exercises are so effective—they challenge strength, balance, and control all at the same time.

Our mother wanted to feel the energy of the city during the @fifaworldcup , so we planned a family field trip. Our day was so ATLANTA!

Took @martatransit downtown for the final programming of the @atlantaculturalexchange , caught an inspiring conversation with Mayor @andreforatlanta and Jaylen Brown, my mom got interviewed by @11alive @cheryl.preheim , experienced an amazing performance by girls from the @alvinailey Camp, and spent the day making memories with family.

Strong muscles, balanced nutrition, and consistent habits are all part of supporting long-term metabolic health.

Lately, I’ve been incorporating Metabolic Power Protein by @veracityhealthco into my routine alongside weightlifting, running, Pilates, stretching, and prioritizing whole-food nutrition.

What I love is that it goes beyond a traditional protein powder. It provides high-quality plant protein to support muscle and strength as part of an active lifestyle, helps support satiety so I feel fuller longer, and includes targeted ingredients that support metabolic health, balanced energy, and healthy blood sugar levels already within the normal range.*

Plus, it’s caffeine-free, contains no artificial sweeteners or fillers, and is designed for daily use.

Small, consistent choices add up—and finding products that support my wellness goals makes it that much easier.

Glute prep is a non-negotiable before I lift. 🍑

A few minutes with a resistance band helps wake up my glutes, improve muscle activation, and create a stronger mind-to-muscle connection before the heavy work begins. The result? Better movement, more stability, and a more effective workout.

Prime first. Lift stronger.

One of my favorite ways to train my back is on the Reformer with the long box. Whether I’m sitting on the long box or lying prone pulling straps, it that never gets old.

What I love most is that I’m not just working against the resistance of the springs—I’m also pulling a portion of my own body weight as it rests on the carriage. That combination creates a unique challenge that builds strength, control, and endurance while encouraging great posture and full-body awareness.
