The @chairphit arm work is so effective. I’m using 3-5 lb weights and my arms were wiped out at the end of this set. You can do this set as a single or a circuit. #pilatesarms #ChairPhit #chairworkout #chairpilates by @mickiphit
You don’t always need heavier weights to make an exercise challenging. One powerful strategy is to use a lighter load and move it explosively. Here’s why it works: Increase speed: Move through the lifting phase with intent and maximum control. Create power: Explosive movements train your muscles to produce force quickly. Control the movement: Lighter weight doesn’t mean sloppy reps. Stay intentional from start to finish. Challenge your nervous system: Fast, powerful movements can teach your body to recruit muscle fibers more efficiently. Protect your form: Choose a weight that allows you to move quickly without losing technique. The goal isn’t simply to move the weight as fast as possible—it’s to produce quality power while maintaining good mechanics. I don’t want to fight aging. I want to age well. For me, that means taking care of the body I have while appreciating the privilege of getting older. I care less about proving that I can do everything… …and more about deciding what is actually worth doing. I want my life to have room for movement, travel, family, friendships, creativity, laughter and a little bit of doing absolutely nothing. #ProAging #AgingWell #wellness by @mickiphit
20+ years teaching Pilates. Then a back injury, and over a year of physical therapy. This is how Micki started again 👇🏼 No gym. No equipment. Just a chair and five minutes. “It’s never too late to begin, and you don’t have to make up for lost time.” — Micki Price Havard (@mickiphit) 🤍 Try Micki’s seated march (from ChairPHIT®): 👉🏼 Sit tall in a sturdy chair, feet flat on the floor. 👉🏼 Lift one knee at a time, like marching in place. 👉🏼 Go for 30–60 seconds at a comfortable pace, holding the chair if you need to. Send this to someone who keeps saying “I’ll start Monday.” It’s Monday. 😉 Comment “step 1” if you’re starting today. Slow down. Find your balance. Move with intention. ✨ Sometimes, less speed means more strength. By slowing down each movement, you create space to focus on alignment, control, breath, and the muscles doing the work. Standing Pilates is a beautiful way to build core strength, improve balance, strengthen stabilizing muscles, enhance coordination, and develop body awareness. I dedicated an entire chapter to Standing Pilates in my book, Pilates for everyone. This series is a part of the @mickiphitmethod Method teacher training. New certification workshops coming in the new year. Outfit and 3lb Weighted Balls by @bettermestore • code Micki20 #StandingPilates #BalanceTraining #BodyAwareness #ProAging by @mickiphit
Stay curious. About the little things. ✨ Take a different route on your neighborhood walk. Strike up a conversation with someone you might not normally talk to. Try a new coffee shop. Change your routine. Look at familiar places with fresh eyes. Explore your own neighborhood as if you’re seeing it for the first time. Ask more questions. Be interested in people’s stories. Stay open to perspectives that challenge your own. Be curious about the people in your life, your relationships, and even the parts of yourself you haven’t fully discovered yet. Sometimes, we think we need to go somewhere new to experience something interesting. But there’s so much life happening right where we are. We just have to pay attention. Curiosity makes the ordinary feel extraordinary. It creates connection, invites discovery, and keeps us from moving through life on autopilot. You don’t always need a new place. Sometimes you just need a new perspective. Stay curious. There’s so much more to discover. by @mickiphit

A STRONG CORE INCLUDES YOUR BACK We often prioritize defined abs, but strengthening your back is just as important for building a strong, balanced body. ✨ Here’s why back strength matters: ✔️ Supports better posture ✔️ Helps stabilize your spine ✔️ Builds balanced upper-body strength ✔️ Helps you move with greater control and confidence Your posture isn’t just about standing up straight. It’s also about building the strength and endurance to support your body throughout the day. The goal? A strong front AND a strong back! Don’t skip your back day. Your body will thank you! Be honest… are you giving your back the same attention as your abs?
