Most of us didn’t grow up with wealth blueprints.

We got:
– “Work hard, buy a house”
– “Don’t waste money”
– “Keep your head down”

📉 But that won’t cut it anymore.

Migrant Wealth Builders isn’t just about money.

It’s about the real stuff that gets left out of the convo:

– 💬 How do you build wealth when your family never had it?
– 🧠 How do you unlearn the shame around wanting more?
– 🛠️ How do you grow your career or business with no connections, no playbook?

That’s why I started MWB — part podcast, part platform, part community — for people like us, building real wealth from scratch.

📢 Want early access to episodes, behind-the-scenes convos, and upcoming events?
DM “waitlist” to get on the list. We’re just getting started.

Many of us inherited the habit of hiding our pain.

“I’m fine” becomes the default.

But what if we unlearned that?

Taking five minutes to honestly ask, “How am I actually doing today?” creates space to acknowledge what we’re feeling instead of burying it.

You can’t navigate what you refuse to name. 🌱

We’re exploring this more in an upcoming @migrantwealthbuilders podcast episode with @selina151215. 🎙️

What’s your default when someone asks if you’re okay? “I’m fine” — or are you learning to open up?

👇 Tell us in the comments.

...

Shoutout to @launchpadwsu and @qmedia.dump for helping us brainstorm, script, film and edit this video. 🙌 by @migrantwealthbuilders

A psychologist mapped out five dimensions of happiness. Money isn't one of them.

While listening to a podcast about why money fights aren't about money (more on this in a separate post), I heard about Martin Seligman’s PERMA model.

Seligman originally described happiness in three dimensions (the Pleasant Life, the Good Life, and the Meaningful Life), then refined this into the PERMA model in his book Flourish.

The 5 dimensions:

P – Positive Emotion: Experiencing joy, gratitude, hope, contentment, and other pleasant feelings.

E – Engagement: Being deeply absorbed in activities that use your strengths, often leading to a state of “flow.”

R – Relationships: Having warm, supportive, and meaningful connections with others.

M – Meaning: Feeling that your life serves something bigger than yourself—family, community, faith, a cause, etc.

A – Accomplishment: Pursuing and achieving goals, developing mastery, and feeling a sense of progress and competence.

This model aligns with a lot of my thinking around what true wealth looks like, and it also reflects the conversations I've been having with SE Asian Australians as part of my research for Migrant Wealth Builders.

While money is important in the society we live in, what stands out here is that "money" is not one of the 5 dimensions Seligman explicitly calls out.

Does this framework resonate for you? Anything missing? by @migrantwealthbuilders

One of my goals this year is to improve my fitness, so I've been joining Saturday 🏀 runs.

It's a slow process for this unfit 47 yr old, but after 1 month of showing up on the court I can feel my stamina improving.

For someone who played competition bball throughout high school and in my 20s, it's humbling to know the mind can see things happening but the body can't keep up. Like passes not landing, or shots not falling.

I find myself getting frustrated in game, and I've injured my finger and there's aches in my body after each game.

I remind myself that being on the court is a win, and pain is what it feels like to get stronger.

Because we all have a choice - to watch life pass us by or to participate in it. I'm choosing to participate.

Shoutout to @riseyouthbasketball.au for all the support, community, and making these runs happen. by @migrantwealthbuilders

Want better sleep?
Try a daily 30-min walk in nature.

I've been doing this first thing in the morning, daily for the past month. I'm sleeping better and more deeply.

I'm even dreaming again, consistently for the first time in months.

The best thing is I feel more grateful, happier and connected to the abundance and beauty around me.
