Been craving to work with my hands, and nothing beats the scent of fresh moss and bare roots.

Pursuing my curiosity to experiment led to this Tamandama arrangement (inspired by the wonderful @atelir_te) featuring:

- A variegated Dendrobium sp that has been blooming for weeks and I hope it does not stop,
- Some rooted cuttings of Selaginella wildenowii variegated (I hope it continues to root in this setup),
- Davalia sp cuttings
- And a Platycerium alcicorne “Africa” pup—the first time I tried excising a pup from a mother plant, haha.

They seem to have stayed happy for close to a week now; the true test is to see if it stays healthy over the next weeks and months. Such is life, we try to thrive through the experiments we put ourselves through. 🌱

Been wanting to try creating anthotype prints for a while now so I thought I’d experiment while at the beach. Something is so magical with the whole concept of anthotypes: that turmeric + sunlight + time can create an image by capturing shadows is so fascinating (it’s science, I know).

It feels like a ritual and an experiment, creating the golden emulsion with turmeric and alcohol, filtering it and then painting, selecting the materials to make the image with and then leaving it in the sun, revealing the imprinted image after hours of exposure, and then seeing it darken when developed in a basic solution. It’s so gratifying to use my hands and create slow (plus points to do this by the sea, this was a good call).

Can’t wait to create more! Anyway some details:

1. First two prints ever! Used 300g acid-free watercolor paper, 70% isopropyl alcohol + turmeric filtered emulsion ink, and baking soda solution to develop the image.
2. Quick process vid!
3. Print 1— the 3-hour late afternoon sun lead to underexposure, which I kinda like: it developed to a more blood-red and hazier print.
4. Print 2— 4-hour direct noontime sun exposure. It gave me a sharper but overall lighter capture as expected! by @mikhailquijano

Long time no proper post, so here’s one from Saturday’s Church (Gym) sesh. Thought I’d document to check for form and figured I’d share it because I love my Saturday routine— Legs and Chest, focusing mostly on machine work (no footage for the Leg Press Calf Raise sets that is included in my usual Saturdays. Always work your calves people!)

I used to not like machines but now really love how I get to play with the science behind their engineering; you can tell how anthropometrics and movement patterns were taken into account. While I love calisthenics-based exercises for a more full body engagement, machines often give me more support over free weights, which makes me able to lift heavier.

Anyway yada yada yada! Stay flowy, lift heavy 🌊💪🏽 by @mikhailquijano
