Some roads stay with you.

This November, BeSpoked heads into the Klein Karoo for our first Moto Traverse — eight days away, seven days riding and some of South Africa’s most spectacular gravel roads and mountain passes.

Swartberg Pass. Prince Alfred’s Pass. Seweweekspoort. Tradouw. Rooiberg. Loviane.

Remote roads. Small Karoo towns. Beautiful places to stay. Long days on the bikes and good evenings around the table.

And we’re keeping it deliberately small.

Just 6 riders — with only ONE place remaining.

Tirol just keeps surprising me. Every time I think I’ve discovered the best roads around here, we find another one that somehow tops the last. 🚴‍♀️⛰️

Today’s ride was one of those special ones. We started gently along the river before climbing over the mountain near Drena and dropping into a beautiful valley lined with apple orchards. 🍎 It’s harvest season, so the whole valley was alive with tractors and people picking fruit. It’s really fascinating to see how the picking is still done by hand unlike most other places in the world today

After a short 100 m descent, the road pointed upwards again from Vezzano towards Ranzo — and this was the absolute highlight. The road is carved into a sheer rock face, with sections where you’re literally cycling along the edge of the cliff. The views across the valley and mountains were just breathtaking. 😍

And then came the descent from Ranzo… just as spectacular. Winding down through beautiful forests and a narrow gorge, past towering rock faces that are well known among climbers. Every corner seemed to reveal another incredible view.

A quick sandwich and well-earned beer 🍺 at Castel Toblino 🏰 and then we were back on the bikes for the ride home.

Days like this are why I never get tired of exploring Tirol and Trentino by bike. There is always another hidden road, another valley and another view waiting to be discovered!!!

Fun day in Utrecht! This definitely is a mini Amsterdam and worth a visit.

One of the things that makes Utrecht so unique is its beautiful split-level canals. Unlike most Dutch cities, the canals were built with wharfs and waterside cellars, allowing merchants to unload goods directly from boats into storage beneath their homes. These historic wharfs have since been transformed into charming cafés, restaurants and terraces right at the water’s edge.

Many wealthy merchants owned two houses side by side: a large winter home facing the street and a smaller summer house overlooking the canal. On some of the larger houses, you can still see the word “Groot” (“large”) above the entrance, marking the main family home.
