My first gravel race ever … I have such a rubber arm and managed to get convinced that doing a 160km is normal 🥹😅😂 … All I can say is that 6 hours with no suspension is almost like torture when you own an enduro bike🤪

I have been thinking of doing a gravel race at some point but didn’t think of out kicking it off with a 100miler. Sascha managed to convince me 3 days ago to come and do the Ronde Van Riebeek with them and after having a look at the weather, I thought it will be a great idea to do it on a perfect day like today. The race was a lot of fun riding with my friends and all the awesome people I got to meet and chitchat with along the way. I however, have to say that the corrugation is an absolute killer… all I wanted was my mountain bike with suspension and nice flowy single track BUT with all that said, I know I will forget about all of the corrugation tomorrow and enter for another gravel race again as soon when friends twist my rubber arm again 🤪

The Stellenbosch Mountians providing epic backdrops for our last Mates Race of the Summer Season!

A mates race isn’t a mates race without some drama - some crashes, some broken bones (heal up @dayleholmes!), some shoeys and always some good vibes 🤘🏽

Epic times with everyone that pulled through - until next time 👊🏼🤝🏼

Super happy to make podium in my age category at the SA National Enduro champs this past weekend. I don’t always post the results but this one was quite special and making podium made it feel like all the effort was actually worth it. I thought about doing enduro before but didn’t want to start until I thought I could really commit to doing it full out for a year. It’s also pretty daunting to start something new and get forced out of your comfort zone so often. I really find the older I get, the less want to struggle and the easier it is to just fall back to what you are used to or already good at. I therefore about 5 years ago decided to set myself a challenge to learn one new skill every year and enduro was it for this year. I’m also writing this to say, sometimes it might seem like many things just come easier to others and you’re the only one struggling but don’t feel like a failure and give up; it’s a struggle for all of us. It took a lot of hard work, effort and sacrifices to just get to this point and I still have so much more to learn and get better at. Looking back, it’s really been a fulfilling journey to see how all the small improvements finally added up because I sometimes found it very hard to see them individually along the way. Thanks Jeanne-Louise @wiesenberg40 & family for all the support at the events and JL for shuttling us up Cascades so many times. We honestly couldn’t have done it without you! A big thank you also to all the race organisers @kzngravitymtb and trail builders … all of us saw all the effort you put into this and we are really grateful. You did an amazing job!
