The Nordic Ultralight Roastery

Bright. Beautiful. True.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Join us at Golden Hour in Kingston next month, on Saturday October 24 at noon, to cup the coffees we judged during our trip to Taiwan last month! These are the 20 finalists for this year's Best of Taiwan competition, so this is a truly outstanding lineup of coffees, and not to be missed!

N.B. Attendants, please avoid using any sort of fragrance, or odiferous hair or body product the day of the event, as this can severely interfere with the cupping experience. Thanks! taken in Kingston, NY by @mirracoffee

We’re ringing in the return of Kenya to our menu with two beautiful lots from the Karimikui wet mill in Githure, Kirinyaga, this one being an PB separation. Both of these lots are some of the tastiest we’ve had the good fortune to try from Kenya over the past few years, so we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you. In the cup, the PB separation yields lots of dark, syruppy boysenberry, sweet quince preserves, and a light dusting of peach blossom on top—such a yummy cup. by @mirracoffee

An Introduction — Karimikui Wet Mill!

The Karimikui wet mill is located at 1.800 masl on the southern foothills of Mt. Kenya, about 9 km north of the regional hub of Embu. The Rungeto Cooperative Society, which has yielded many of the best Kenyan lots over the previous 5 years, and of which Karimikui is a member, is made up of 2,600 contributing producers. The mill draws fresh water from the Nyamindi River to meet its water demands for processing. Most of the producers plant grevillea robusta and macadamia trees to provide shade for their coffee trees. by @mirracoffee

Our very first Kenyan lot has arrived, straight from Karimikui Wet Mill, their delightful AA separation!

We heartily welcome the return of Kenyan coffee to our menu with two lots from the Karimikui wet mill in Githure, Kirinyaga, this one being an AA separation. Both of these lots are some of the tastiest we’ve had the good fortune to try from Kenya over the past few years, so we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you. The AA lot gives us lots of bright red currant and meyer lemon, as you’d expect in a beautiful Kenyan, with the added complexity, florality, and mildly savory quality of basil blossom coming in on the finish. by @mirracoffee

Stop by on Saturday folks, for another cheeky pop-up at Secret Coffee in Brooklyn. We'll be debuting our collaboration coffee — an uncommonly fruity washed maragogipe from Peru, produced by Augustin Ccoyo — alongside a full menu of Mirra goodness. Stop on by, we try not to make a habit of biting. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @mirracoffee

The second coffee in our SEPTEMBER Edition comes all the way from Kingston, New York 🇺🇸 — and it’s a seriously high-end Mexican coffee roasted in a beautiful Nordic style.

We chose this one for its layers of sweet agave nectar, delicate apple blossom and buttery hazelnut. Beautifully balanced and complex yet wonderfully effortless, it delivers classic flavours with remarkable clarity and charm.

We don’t come across many Mexican coffees this good, so this one really is a treat. ❤️

Another special coffee, chosen especially for our Coffee Club members. ☕️✨

New drop announcement — Tanzania Leon Christianakis' washed gesha.

We are welcoming two lovely lots from Acacia Hills’ Leon Christianakis back onto our menu this season, for the third year in a row, and are so pleased, as always, by the continued quality of the lots that he produces. His washed geisha this year remains memorable, as it has been in years past. When brewed, you can expect lots of delicate, green honeydew melon, stable rose florality, and the lingering juiciness of red rooibos tea throughout the experience. by @mirracoffee

Taiwan Double Release — an incomparable washed typica and SL34 from Hsu Tingyeh of Zhuo Wu Mountain Estate!

It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that Hsu Tingyeh’s coffee is something that we look forward to most during the off-season. The wait is now over though, and we’re so glad that he’s back on the menu—this season being represented by two incomparable washed lots.

First off, the typica yields an abundance of sweet and slightly tart gooseberry, bouquets of fresh-picked violets, and a distinct milk-tea creaminess and mellow tannic quality in the cup that we find to be absolutely delightful. Given the particular quality, complexity, and cleanness of this lot, it seemed like the perfect fit to release in collaboration with our partner in Taipei, Looproom Coffee.

Second, Tingyeh’s SL34 selection, is expressing a noticeable degree more of flavor clarity and delineation than last year, as well as general cleanness and brightness—aided too by switching from honey process, as we selected last year, to washed process. Without fail, this coffee gives sweet and yummy raspberry, delicate, clean, and refreshing white tea, with a definite zing of sumac brightness. We’re super excited to share this one with you. by @mirracoffee
