Memorial Day weekend means so much more than booze and a long weekend.

Today I completed a Half Murph at 2 months postpartum; was it easy? No, was it something I was determined to do? Yes, it was. Even on the toughest of days, I can muster up just one more step, or one more squat, in this case, for those I continue to remember. They are not here any longer, but their legacy lives on, and we took our girl Naomi with us to see the boys, so even though she is little, she begins to understand the sacrifice.

To the families, we always stand with you; through thick and thin, we are never out of reach in your time of need.

To God above, though we miss them, thank you for allowing us to know them and cherish their memory forever.

To my boys, 2Chambs, Gage, and Noah, thank you for being my brothers in arms; I miss you always, but I’m forever grateful for knowing you. God bless, and we have the watch. by @miss.alex91

Well, it has taken me until now to sit down and be able to write out my little welcome to this beautiful thing called life for our little lady, but here we go. Four weeks old as of yesterday morning, it doesn’t seem possible that I’ve been blessed to be your Momma Bear for four whole weeks, but here we are. The hours in a day are filled with looking at you and thinking how blessed your daddy and I are to call you our little blessing from God. You are still growing into who God has called you to be and will continue to do so, but there are so many moments that we see your daddy and I in you. Oh, how fun it will be to continue watching your personality bloom and grow!

Let’s look back at March 14th and give a shout out to my dear husband for being the absolute best during the whole process of induction, labor, and delivery. My dear husband, you were absolutely the biggest cheerleader this girl could ask for, holding my hand through every second of those 27 minutes and telling me to push, push, push - hehe, my favorite was when you said, “I see a head!” You were a rockstar, and I’m forever grateful that I get to do this life with you by my side. We are truly blessed to be husband and wife, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Thank you, my love.

Motherhood is full of lots of emotions, but the best part of it is knowing that God has entrusted little ole me to raise a young woman of God to be all that God has for her to be - a daunting task, perhaps, but we know that He has her in the palm of His hand in each and every moment, and for that reason, I know each day will hold challenges, but God has us taken care of.

Well, I think that’s a decent update for now; have to go back to Momma Bear mode. Stay blessed, my dear friends and family! God bless. by @miss.alex91

Jan 11th 2024 @ 9:49 PM I received a text that said “Are you at work?” from my dear friend and sister in arms… nothing more just that, it was in that moment I knew something was wrong.

I quickly made my way to work and the news was bestowed on me that two of my brothers in arms were missing…

The news cut through me like a knife and it took everything in my power to not burst into tears, but I had a mission to complete and that was helping get everyone needed to help find them into the Joint Operations Center (JOC) so that is what I did.

Losing not one but two brothers that day will be something that I will carry for my entire life, but I look back and I can fondly remember them and their incredible personality. They were both men who lived life to the fullest and would do anything in their power for anyone who needed their help.

The sea claimed two wonderful people that day, but God gained two certified and trained guardian angels that day as well. I’ll forever look to the sky and know that they both are looking down on us as their brothers/sisters smiling those big smiles!

To the Chambers and Ingram families my heart still hurts for you both and I continue to stand in the gap for each of you whenever you might need it. Prayers are continuing to be spread over you and I am grateful to know you all.

37 years ago today you two said “I Do”… those faithful words carry so much more weight this year as you both have been through quite the storm together, but at the center of that storm is a God who holds all things together as long as we ourselves are willing to trust that He and His Almighty Power can do just that.

I am beyond grateful to be the daughter God chose to bring into your lives, He knew exactly what He was doing and I never doubted that through every step a curve of life. To sit here basically 26 weeks pregnant wrapping Christmas presents everything comes to focus on just how special this day truly is…

It’s a reminder that God is faithful…
That He is forgiving…
Honest…
True…
Never failing…
He is always there… just as a man and wife are called to be when they become one.

I love you both with all my heart and wish I could be there to celebrate the day in person, but know I send my love from Rainy California forever and always.

I’ll close with this. A prayer over you both as you step into year 38 together.

Lord God our Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for this couple that I am blessed to call my Father and Mother. I ask your mighty hand to cover them this year in only a way that you can, that you continue to heal their bodies, hearts and souls, that they turn to you whenever the going gets tough and they hold tight to one another each and everyday. God, thank you for giving me them as parents and I believe that this year will be filled to the fullest with joy, love and peace to carry them all the way through! God, we love you and we praise your mighty name! Amen

Well the stockings are hung, the tree has been given character and all is well in the Porter Cabin. Grateful for this time of year, hits a little different this year.

My daddy bear is doing well and God is continuing to answer our prayers of healing over his body from this cancer scare. The fight is not over yet, but we serve a God who loves each of us with the fiercest of loves and if it be His will He will surely heal my father completely and give us many more years of memories and laughs to cherish.

As I write this even now, I have a sweet baby girl kicking and flipping every which way in my ever growing tummy. How can we ever say that God is not truly amazing?

Lastly, I have a darling Belgian Malinois staying close and on guard for me and her baby sister. She truly is the best big sister this baby girl could ask for…sweet Lava you are going to enjoy this journey just as much as your dad and I are. Thanks for loving all of us with the fiercest of dog loves imaginable.

All that being said this year, has been a little roller coaster in and of itself, but grateful is the feeling I flood back to, grateful for every text, call or hug.
Grateful for the ever reaching hands of friends and family.
Grateful to a God who hears our prayers even the angry ones. He hears them all and takes note of each of them, He then moves upon them in only a manner in which He can.

Remember the reason for the season and hug those you love a little tighter and smile a little brighter, because even through the roller coasters there is always a time to smile and give thanks for the all that we have and those we cherish. God Bless and Merry Christmas from the Porters.
