What happens before the breakthrough?

The writing sessions. The creative risks. The connections, collaborations and spaces that give artists room to develop.

We spoke to creative producer, artist manager and festival booker @mobo_aji about building creative communities, genuine artist development and creating opportunities that connect artists, writers and producers across scenes, cities and countries.

From @up2stndrd to @pitchscotland, Mobo shares why the future of music isn’t just about where the industry is now, it’s about where culture is moving next.

OVER AND OUT

I played the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games last night the only way I knew how x

Black and brilliant 🫶🏽

It was an honour to represent the events that took place on Kenmure Street three years ago. And I’m so greatful to have been able to represent Glasgow, a place that has done so much for me and that has always welcomed as one of its own.

‘Lift Evry Voice’ is a song of black resistance and hope in the face of colonialism and segregation. It’s the honour of my life to have been able to sing this in my second home x

My dress by the amazing @annabelstewart.studio , held pictures of her own family archive woven into the tartan, who were displaced during the highland clearances. It was an absolute privilege to wear this dress as a message of survival despite attempts at erasure and assimilation. @auntienino thank you for the jewels you’re my favorite jewellery designer in the world xx

@nameseyve we did that!! 🫶🏽
