“Carry Me Home” — out Friday, November 22

This piece is a love letter to the places that built me. I directed this dance film with the brilliant Senda Bonet behind the lens and the extraordinary Melissa Guerin-Torres embodying the choreography.

The stage has always been my truest home, the place where I feel most grounded and most myself. But in this film, Melissa dances through projected images of my home: our lake house in Michigan (the beloved “4 Acres”), the sky and mountains I return to when flying between California and Illinois, and the grid of the Chicago suburbs where I grew up.

It’s a merging of worlds… the places that shaped me, the art that sustains me, and the voice that carries it all forward.

I can’t wait to share it with you. Song is out 12.22.25

LYRA & THE LIGHT
Debut album coming soon @lyraandthelight

An acoustic glimpse of Eye to Eye
a quieter window into one corner our band.

We’ve taken our time with this debut.
Three years of listening, shaping, letting the music become what it wanted to be.
A place where my voice could move freely, without holding back, without choosing just one path. For me, the vocal experience I felt when singing LIVE actually translated when recording this album, at last ;) AND we allowed ourselves to go wherever the music took us without limitations or “genre” concern. Eternally grateful to David and this band for that in particular.

This album lives in many spaces, but holds as one body, one journey. To me it moves through archetypal realms, mythic and instinctual, unfolding as it goes.

We’d love to invite you into our musical world. This song was filmed by @adampetrishin at the studio where we recorded @snagglehouse

I’m so excited to finally release this music TBD on release date :) @8thhouse @heh_ree_ow_uhn

NY IN 24 HOURS! In January I got a Broadway callback. I lived in New York in my 20s and trained to be a Broadway performer but when I left New York I left that dream behind me and always wondered if that was a mistake.
They gave us three songs to learn, and one scene. The songs are incredible but as difficult as Sondheim, so I spent 48 hours leading up to travel memorizing and learning the tunes. Luckily my friend let me stay at her place. I took a red eye and got there at 5 AM. The audition was in the afternoon and I was ready.
When I got to the audition there were gorgeous Broadway stars rehearsing, dancing, singing, running around the hallways full of life. Some of the other girls and I made jokes as we waited to audition and you could hear everybody sing/audition, all amazing!
When it was my turn, I walked in. I did a quick comedic scene and the choreographer told me “thank you that will be all.” I asked if I could sing the songs I had prepared and she said “not needed.”
So I cried walking down 42nd St. like so many before me. We all know the drill but at least LET ME SING!!!. Our job is to learn the material and bust our ass to get there, so they can at least do their job, and listen.
I stumbled into some gorgeous Gothic church and I had my aunt Peggy’s funeral mass card in my folder for comfort, so I prayed and cried. Then I got a call from my building that the water heater broke and it needs to be replaced within 24 hours per city law. So the tears turned to laughter and action. I walked the streets of New York calling plumbers to get estimates then get approval from owners etc.
As I walked NY that night and found a good steakhouse, I realized, leaving was NOT a mistake. Not because I don’t love it and not because it’s wronged me, but because I just felt deeply that I am now, and always have been, exactly where I am supposed to be. Even when it doesn’t make sense.

REWIND comes out tomorrow.

New song called REWIND out this Friday, with some footage from my Portland visit earlier this year. I’m a bit of a moss chaser. 🌿

I wrote this song during COVID and finally got around to recording it with some wonderful musicians from all over the world.

We are thrilled to share that John Fairbairn and Molly Durand have been nominated for Best Duo Acting in 4 LONG YEARS at the London Night Film Festival 2026!

This little film rests on the relationship between Marsha and Leo, so having their work together recognized in this way feels especially meaningful. Director David DeSantos and producer Megan Raitano guided Molly with the script and throughout the shoot, always keeping the focus on the relationship rather than the political opinion.

David carried that into his work with the actors. Molly recalls him giving her one simple note: “Now save his life.” It grounded her as Marsha and brought her straight back to the love for her brother underneath everything else. John was game for anything, and his commitment, heart, and focus were felt throughout the entire shoot. It’s rare to work with an actor’s director who knows exactly what to say to get the most honest performances, and David did that beautifully.

Huge thank you to everyone who helped bring 4 LONG YEARS to life. 🖤

Most do you know for the last three or four years I’ve been making music with an incredible group of musicians. We are called Lyra & The Light and we were featured on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest: Top Shelf with Bobby Carter and Robin Hilton!!

AND we’re finally getting ready to bring this whole strange little world we’ve created out into the light. So if you are in LA join us on November 12 we’re doing our entire album live at Skylight Theatre in Los Feliz.

Then on November 20, our first single from this new chapter, “Shadow Creatures,” arrives everywhere, with more music rolling out throughout 2027 and finally we will release the full album.

This album is really a journey. Both cinematic and ethereal then grunge, dark, weird and LOUD sprinkled with a bit of Americana to keep us wholesome. Like I said…a journey!

And we’re doing this independently, which means every recording, musician, rehearsal, venue, camera, crew member and all the other million things that go into making something like this happen are being funded by us.

So if you’d like to support us, there are a couple ways to become a Shadow Creature:

🖤 Come to the November 12 show in LA.

🖤 Or, if you can’t be there but want to support the band, you can donate whatever amount feels right. Links on our website which is in our IG bio @lyraandthelight

If you come to the show or donate, we will send you a private link to hear the album WAY ahead of its public release.

Come into the shadows with us this spooky season!

Show tickets also on our website

Come, you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs

You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin’
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it’s your little toy

You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe

But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

This is from 2005 the first filmed Lady M experience. She was born in the upper Peninsula of Michigan, surrounded by a fire of Bohemians. She is currently still running, toxic acting classes in Los Angeles. She has been canceled & sued several times and has no recollection of any of the cancelings nor has she shown up for any legal proceedings which keeps her quite ripe. by @mollydurand
