Don’t pity us Single Child Families, We are having fun I promise you that.😂😂😂 by @momuninterrupted

My Daughter talked bout wanting to help someone but also feeling a lil uncomfortable at times. Because it felt she was putting herself in discomfort.

And it looked the perfect opportunity to talk about being kind but with boundaries.

Empathy without boundaries is self destruction. Ask us Highly Sensitive People who are also empaths, We know.

It took me years to learn this, so obviously I’ll be teaching this to My Daughter early on.

We cannot go hungry trying to feed someone else- to her I was giving an example of food but to you, an adult, I am not talking bout food here.

What do you think? Do you lack boundaries and go into people pleasing at the cost of your own self?

She was talking about her career but this applies to Motherhood as well.

I’m really into the reason I am tired and it’s not always gonna be this way.

So I totally dig it.

They are small only for a season.

We live in a world where food arrives in 10 minutes, entertainment is instant, answers are one Google search away, and almost every inconvenience has a quick fix.

But resilience doesn’t work like that.

A child builds resilience when they practise for something that doesn’t come easily. When they lose and try again. When they have to wait. When they feel disappointed and discover that the feeling passes. When they struggle with something and realise they can figure it out.

Our job isn’t to manufacture hardship or leave children to deal with difficult feelings alone.

It’s to stop treating every moment of frustration as a problem we must immediately solve.

Let them struggle with support. Let them feel disappointed with connection. Let them work towards things that matter to them.

We don’t build resilience by making childhood harder. We build it by helping children discover that they can handle hard things.

Please don’t judge, I only have half a day to live my Life and Work😂😂😂

Who else is with me? by @momuninterrupted

I saw this and broke down. Because this has been me. It instantly took me back to when my Daughter was around 18 months old and I was in the kitchen, n I threw a plate that landed in the living room. Instantly, exactly like this, I broke down.

It took me another six months to recognise what was happening and seek help.

My Daughter was 2 when I was diagnosed with Post partum depression, anxiety and PMDD. I was immediately put on medication and those meds saved my life. That along with consistent therapy for three years brought me back to myself. My new normal.

As we approach #WorldMentalHealthDay, let’s not leave Maternal Mental Health out of this conversation.
