HELP TO RESIST ACTIONS FROM SWERFS ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S POLICY

A bunch of SWERFS and sex work abolitionists have written to CEDAW (The Chair and Members of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) to "Stop Recognising Sex Work as Work" going back on decades of wins by the sex workers' rights movement. CEDAW is based in the Netherlands but their word means a lot - and can affect sex work policies worldwide.

Sex Workers and Allies South Asia (SWASA) are petitioning for CEDAW (the women's rights committee) to stand firm, resist the pressure from SWERFs, and stick to recommendations given by sex workers ourselves (which they have supported till now).

TAKE 30 SECONDS TO WRITE YOUR NAME IN SUPPORT ❤️‍🔥🌹✍️

💅Bronze in my category at Queerstrong 2026 @prideinstrength at the @commandotemple.

Thank you to all my friends who came to spectate and cheer as I had the best time of my life doing TWENTY ONE 90 KG AXLE DEADLIFTS IN ONE MINUTE. WTF?

😭Thanks for making me a Queerstrong Athlete @bensavin_wellbeing and Sam! See you all next year (and able to do more shoulder pressy things)

❤️Also big ups to Carl next to me doing 200kg deadlifts for their category - wanna be like these Divas when I grow up

⚡Other highlights include:
Dragging and carrying 4/5 objects in 90 seconds (I could only do 3 before!)
a 2 minute 90kg Wrecking Ball Hold
and pressing those damned sandbags over my head. by @moonjiboi

Part 1 of our "Writing our own queer stories: counter archiving in divisive times" workshop with @moonjiboi !

We kickstarted off this session with an 11 minute documentary created by VAMP (Veshya Anyay Mukti Parishad / "Sex Workers Freedom from Injustice" - a sex-worker led collective) in Maharashtra, and then a discussion of how important sex worker stories be told in their own lens instead of someone swooping in to document from another country.

We then read pieces including and not limited to @kaichengthom , abby.silversmith and more - interweaving queerness, transness, the system and the state, the diaspora. The poetry and prose, and the depth of it all.

As the icing on the cake, we shredded, ripped and blacked-out words from existing literature and articles about old and new legislation, including current trans-discriminatory laws in India, as well as the Section 377 penal code that is still very much present in many countries in the world.... And made them into blooming collages!

Collages will be posted in Part 2, stay tuned 👀

I had such wonderful birthday celebrations that now I am a bit blue! @moonjiboi got on a very early train to come up north and go straight into the Peaks, to bag four Ethels on their very first proper hikes in the peaks (that too at 30 degrees!). We raised the 🇵🇸 at Mam Tor, Brown Knoll and Lords Seat with a lot of walk and talk, sun climbing, being silly, sheep traffic, dehydration, endless sun walks, lying on grass and the couch after. At the end, we raised £1040 which is £40 over my target for the Sheffield Palestinian Women's Scholarship Fund and I want to thank everyone single one of the 35 people who contributed, who took time to walk with me or share my posts, and @jamesatashroo who drove me to a lot of the Ethels. The fund is raising £5000 in total for this year so if you have monies to spare, please do support them. Every single £ goes directly to support women in west bank and Gaza in completing/pursuing further education.

My birthday was filled with the sweetest people, best food and mangoes, and friends and family showing up in ways I didn't think possible! Here's a very random collection from our walk, my tiramisu cake courtesy @amna.k84, puzzling, sheep and SO much sun. Couldn't ask for more 🥰😭❤️

When I'm doing institution mandated marking and assessing, I forget how much I enjoy teaching and being in the classroom!!

Thankfully, we have pictures from students to remind us! Thank you for these beautiful two @jooo_ooey 💕 the rest of these are outfits, some food that sustains me, things I've seen and taken photographs of in the last term and @teenasaibalamu @anna_clicks trying a coconut souffle at Mainland Madras, pictures from a zine a student made on disability during our last class together, a beautiful collage another student made, my recipe for Tuna Rice from the Misery Meals cookbook! This beautiful magnet stamp magnet that has since gone missing from Lever and Bloom Coffee cart, and, my wonderful colleagues that make everything at LSE easier

it's @anna_clicks birthday month!

for her birthday month, anna is climbing/walking/biking 50 ethel peaks in the north of the UK in support of the Sheffield Palestine Women's Scholarship Fund.

if you know her, please get her a birthday gift by donating to the fund, and if you dont know her, give the fund some beer money (5/10 pounds!)

here are some fun pictures to give you all the essence of anna- sun-momos-mountains-mangoes not pictured-and a burning loyalty and conspiratorship to her friends, values and things she believes in.

may our friendship grow as steady and as calm as the mountains 🤸‍♂️ by @moonjiboi
