What did women do with their periods before tampons, period apps, and pretending nothing was happening?

Historically, there have been some pretty intense extremes in how people around the world treated a woman’s bleed.

🩸Ojibwe women, an Indigenous people of North America — menstrual seclusion could be a time for rest, regeneration, and recognition of womanhood.

🩸Chhaupadi, a practice in Nepal — menstruating women were considered impure and, in some communities, required to sleep outside the home.

🩸Ancient Greece and Rome — menstrual blood was believed to influence fertility, crops, disease, and storms.

🩸South India — first menstruation has traditionally been celebrated in some communities, while menstruating women have also faced restrictions around domestic and religious activities.

For thousands of years, cultures placed a woman’s bleed somewhere between reverence and restriction.

Today, we’ve created a third option:
Ignore it.

Keep working. Keep training. Keep producing. Make the blood invisible. Make the discomfort invisible. Pretend your body hasn’t changed.

The answer isn’t to return to menstrual huts or create rules about what women can and can’t do while bleeding.

I’m suggesting something much simpler:
Pay attention.

Your period is information about your body.
You may feel completely normal, or notice changes in your pain, energy, mood, appetite, sleep, or exercise tolerance.

There is no “correct” way to experience your period.

This is a big part of why we created Mosha.

✨We wanted to make cycle awareness something you could actually incorporate into your everyday life — not another thing to track, optimize, or obsess over.

Just four teas, one for each phase of your cycle, to help you slow down, tune in, and create a ritual around what your body is already doing.

We don’t need to worship menstruation.
We don’t need to fear it.
And we don’t need to pretend it isn’t happening.

We can simply understand it — and honor our bleed when she arrives. 🩸

I’ve been recovering from burnout for over a year now.

I took the habits and behaviors I learned as an employee into my entrepreneurship journey, and that meant I never stopped working, thinking, and producing.
There was always more to do.
More to create.
More to become.
I’m sure many of you can relate with that feeling of striving while exhausted.

About 2 years ago, I began unraveling everything I know about work, business, money, productivity, deadlines, and success. I wanted to understand what it means to approach passion-based work like a woman.

Any old world, old man ways of working needed to be eliminated from my psyche and replaced with a fresh perspective on career development.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve received has been around discipline.

I learned not to force anything.
Not the big things. Not the small things.
Not even the act of sitting down to answer an email.

While it was scary in the beginning, I started noticing a pattern: when I am in alignment with my goals, my body, and my motivation, everything falls into place effortlessly and beautifully.

The ideas come. The energy is there. The work gets done without it feeling like work at all.

This is the magic of a woman who has understood the art of letting go while remaining connected.

Before your brain says, “I don’t have enough time…”
Yes, you do.

You don’t need another hour in your day to come back to yourself.

You are always with yourself — which means you are always carrying an opportunity to pause, soften, and reconnect.

Start noticing the tiny moments you usually rush through:
✨ The first sip of your morning drink
✨ The shower before the day begins
✨ Sitting in your car before walking inside
✨ Folding laundry without reaching for your phone
✨ The few minutes before you fall asleep
✨ A walk without a podcast filling the silence

There’s hundreds of daily pocket of opportunity to connect with yourself, rest, relax, take deep breaths.

You don’t always need more time.
Sometimes you just need to stop abandoning the time you already have.

This training split was intentionally designed to align with the patterns of my own menstrual cycle.

Try it out for yourself, pick up pieces that feel good to you, leave the rest.

- Menstrual: This phase is about supporting your body as it rests, releases, and bleeds.
Fun fact: Belly dancing was traditionally practiced by women in community and ceremony during menstruation— and once witnessed by men, it turned into a performance art.

- Follicular: Notice the group classes, dancing, and heavy lifts during this phase. Your body is blooming and should be supportive of the extra push in your training.

- Ovulatory: This is your expansion phase. More community. More movement. More time outside in nature. Lift HEAVY. Take up space. Let yourself spread your wings.

- Luteal: Slowwwww down, baby. Swim. Walk. Sauna. Move intuitively. There’s a reason this phase becomes more solitary—the meditative rhythm of lap swimming feels a lot better than forcing yourself through another HIIT class.

And notice the patterns:
✨Yin yoga every 7 days for deep recovery.
✨No back-to-back heavy lifting.
✨Fun workouts because movement should feel joyful.
✨Community when your hormones crave connection.
✨Outdoor time because we reset in nature.
✨Space for intuitive choice because your body isn’t a machine.

We’ve been taught to train like men on a 7-day calendar while our bodies operate on a ~30-day rhythm.

We are not here to adopt the ‘gym bro’ energy.

We are here to remember that movement can be ritual.
Trust yourself, and train WITH your body.
She has been telling you what she needs all along.

Long before medicine was pharmaceutical, women were the healers. We were midwives, medicine women, shamans, herbalists. Women who learned from the land, through observation, and generations of passed down wisdom.

They knew which herbs eased pain, which plants calmed the nervous system, which roots supported women through different phases of life. Long before healing had to be called “clinical” to be taken seriously.

Then slowly, that knowledge was pushed aside.

Labeled as “witchcraft.”
 “Primitive.”
“Unscientific.”

Fast forward a few centuries, and many of the same plants once dismissed became the foundation of modern pharmaceuticals. Suddenly the healing became “proven” once it was isolated, patented, packaged, and profitable.
Now women grow up disconnected from their cycles, symptoms, and hormones, taught to normalize exhaustion, painful periods, bloating, mood swings, and burnout without ever understanding what the body may actually be lacking.

Mosha was created to make herbal support feel accessible again. A modern way for women to reconnect with cycle-based healing through ingredients that have supported women for generations. 🌿

Ginger contains compounds that may help reduce menstrual pain and nausea. Turmeric provides anti-inflammatory support, while cinnamon may help with blood sugar balance and steady energy.
Follicular phase – focus, digestion, energy returning
Green tea contains caffeine and L-theanine, which can support focus and alertness. Peppermint and lemon balm are commonly used to ease digestion and reduce bloating.
Ovulation phase – circulation and body sensitivity
Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants and may support blood flow. Raspberry leaf and rose have been traditionally used to support uterine health, though research is limited.

New Earth does not begin with a revolution in the streets. It begins with a woman who finally knows herself, and lives her truth boldly. Imagine a billion women rising up to meet themselves without silencing, submitting, or acting docile and weak.
Where she stops exhausting herself into the ground and starts listening to the body that has been trying to speak to her all along. Where she pleasures herself first, schedules her work around her genius, and stops shrinking herself into a shape that was never hers to begin with.
One woman who knows herself changes every relationship she is in. Every daughter she raises. Every room she walks into.
This is the world Mosha Cha is building. Slowly, cyclically, one woman at a time.

Follow for more.

Did you know a woman’s menstrual cycle can sync up with the moon? 🌙 if you bleed during the full moon, you’ll likely ovulate during the new moon (and vice versa). We’re truly magic 🪄

This video is from about a year ago when I started using cycle syncing to help me reduce cramping, bloating, fatigue, and mood swings throughout the month.

2 years later, one of the simplest ways I am supporting my cycle is with herbal teas. I use a specific blend of herbs in each phase to actually support what my body is going through hormonally.

Here’s what that looks like on a functional level:

🌑 During your menstrual phase (bleeding):- Your hormones are at their lowest.
- Inflammation is higher.
- Your body is literally shedding.→ This is where anti-inflammatory, warming support matters most.✨ Think: ginger, turmeric, cinnamon(to reduce cramps, inflammation, and support circulation)

🌒 During your follicular phase (post-period):- Estrogen rises.
- Your brain becomes more receptive to dopamine.
- Energy and clarity come back online.→ This is your “fresh start” phase.✨Think: green tea, lemon balm, peppermint(for calm focus, energy, and mood stability)

🌕 During your ovulatory phase:- Estrogen peaks.
- You’re naturally more social, expressive, and outward-facing.→ Blood flow, antioxidants, and reproductive support become key.✨Think: hibiscus, rose, raspberry leaf(for circulation and overall vitality)

🌘 During your luteal phase (aka the 1–2 weeks before your period):- Progesterone rises.
- Your nervous system is more sensitive.
- PMS, fatigue, and mood dips can show up.→ This is where regulation is everything.✨Think: chamomile, rooibos, lavender(to calm your system, support sleep, and ease PMS)

All 4 tea blends are conveniently available in a cycle syncing tea kit, delivered straight to your door.
Comment ✨HERBAL✨ for more info.

To go deeper, the 30-page Cycle Syncing Guide covers everything — what to eat, how to move, and what to expect emotionally at every stage of your cycle. It is donation based, so you pay whatever feels right. Comment CYCLE and I will send it straight to you. 🫶🏽 by @mosha.cha

When I was 10 years old, I wished I was a boy.

They could run barefoot in the mud, laugh too loud, climb trees, wrestle in the grass.
They could sprawl out, take up space, breathe without being corrected.

Meanwhile, I was told to cross my legs.
To sit pretty.
To be polite, quiet, delicate.
To shrink myself into something graceful and contained.

Boys were allowed to be children.
Girls weee expected to be dolls.

So I swallowed the lie:
that if I wanted freedom, I had to be like them.
strength meant aggression.
power meant being “one of the boys.”

Once I grew into myself I realized,
I never wanted to be a boy.
I wanted to be a woman.
I just never saw what a free woman looked like before.

As n adult, I feel like I’m relearning girlhood.
Re-teaching myself play, messiness, softness.
Taking up space in my own body.
Learning womanhood as she was meant to be.

Welcome to this little community for women who are learning more about who we come here to be.

Women forgiving their mothers for being girls 🥲

Mosha Cha is still in its beautiful baby startup phase, and the first investors we pitched were the women who raised us. We wanted this to be a matriarch-led mission that made room at the table for an older generation of women.

We held our first investor meeting months ago, @flysimranfly brought her mother and @lifewithpreetam brought his aunt.

The joint vision for Mosha was shared with them. We talked about cycle syncing, the trials of the menstrual cycle, and the kind of ancient, plant-based medicine we believe every woman deserves access to.
We expected questions in return.
What we got was something far more moving.

These women had periods for decades. Multiple pregnancies. Some had hysterectomies. Both are in menopause now. And neither of them had ever been taught what their body was actually moving through all those years.

They thought they just bled once a month. If they didn’t, they were pregnant. And one day, it simply stopped.

No one ever told them about the four phases. No one explained the luteal rage, the follicular clarity, the menstrual need for rest.
No one told them any of it was sacred.

The older generation of women learned to push through their exhaustion, their emotions, their pain — because they had no other language for what they were feeling.
They were expected to constantly perform without ever being asked what was happening in their inner world.

Of course life at home felt turbulent for most.
A woman at her wits’ end, with no map for her own body, is a woman the world failed.

At Mosha, our mission is simple: to give women the knowledge about their bodies that was always theirs, and to make natural cycle-supportive medicine accessible to women everywhere.

Every woman deserves this kind of devotion.
