In 2021, I was the heaviest I had ever weighed. I had recently stopped playing professional indoor football and was coming off the toughest year of my life. In 2020, I lost my mom, along with facing a plethora of other unfortunate events. Despite my circumstances, I thought I was still in shape physically and mentally, but I was drinking a lot, skipping workouts, and not prioritizing my health. I was struggling with inconsistency, low energy, and feeling lost without structure
.
It was bad. The problem was that I was trying everything. I thought being “active” meant I was healthy. I wanted to feel confident and strong, but I just couldn’t seem to get there, even if I was trying cardio and random workouts
.
I knew I needed to change something because I wanted to be proud of the person I saw in the mirror and prove to myself that I was capable of more
.
Here in 2025, I am now in the best shape I’ve ever been, pushing my limits as a hybrid athlete and coach, and I’ve built a life I’m passionate about, supporting other athletes and thriving in the fitness community
.
What’s the key lesson here?
.
The key lesson is that if you’re feeling stuck and don’t know where to turn, there’s always a way. You need to focus on three things to change:
1. Consistency
2. A plan tailored to YOUR goals
3. Accountability (and I think this is the most important)
.
