18 years. Countless prayers. A whole lot of growth, sacrifice, love and village.

Last week, our baby graduated. And while this post may be late, the gratitude is right on time.

To everyone who showed up for Ferro throughout the years, family, friends, mentors, teachers, chosen family, and those who loved on him from near or far, thank you.

To those who celebrated with us in person and those who couldn’t make it but were there in spirit, we love you deeply.

No one reaches moments like this alone. It truly takes a village to raise, protect, guide, and pour into a child.

Watching Ferro become the young man he is today has been a blessing. Our village, we did it. Thank you 🤲🏽.

Outside celebrating National Black Arts Festival and the brilliance of Black creativity, style, fashion and expression in its purest form. Congratulations to my girl Lisa Bonner for another great event.

In honor of Neiman Marcus, the host, I pulled out a vintage oversized suit I purchased 20 years ago that I repurposed, reworked, and up cycled the sleeves with a men’s shirt.

As a creative, I don’t just attend these rooms, I expand in them. It’s where my individuality isn’t explained, it’s understood.

As Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman said at the podium, “A society without the arts and creativity is an uncivilized society.”

I am no longer searching for the woman I am meant to be. I am her. Perfectly imperfect and oh so proud. An ode to the saying, “You can start over at any age. Life is for the living.”

To my framily, new and old friends, thanks for all the birthday love. I’ve spent this season spreading healing vibes, creating and connecting.

Sometimes the MAGIC happens when you get quiet. 💕✨

With everything we carry as women, entrepreneurs, mothers, and leaders, how often do we actually give ourselves permission to just BE?

We hear it all the time: Your vibe attracts your tribe.

But the older I get, the more I understand just how important that tribe really is.

You can have the vision. You can have the idea. You can even have the resources. But there are some mountains you simply were never meant to move alone.

The right tribe will pray for you, push you, challenge you, connect you, correct you, celebrate you, and sometimes carry you when you don’t have the strength to carry yourself.

They don’t just clap when you win. They help you win.

They make the phone call.
They show up.
They make the introduction.
They share the post.
They buy the ticket.
They tell you the truth.
They remind you who you are when you forget.

And when it’s their turn, you do the same.

That’s what makes it a tribe.

I’ve been blessed to have people around me who have helped me move mountains I couldn’t have moved by myself. Some have been with me for decades. Others entered my life for a particular season and somehow arrived at exactly the right time.

Today, I simply want to say thank you to mine.

Thank you for believing in my crazy ideas.

Thank you for showing up when there was nothing in it for you.

Thank you for opening doors, pulling up chairs, making room, checking on me, laughing with me, crying with me, and occasionally telling me what I didn’t want to hear.

Teamwork really does make the dream work.

And here’s today’s humble pie:

Sometimes we become so focused on being strong and independent that we forget what a blessing it is to need people and to have the right people to need.

Success is sweeter when it’s shared.

The load is lighter when it’s carried together.

And mountains don’t seem quite so big when your tribe starts climbing with you.

Find your people. Love your people. Pour into your people. And never forget to thank your people.

To my tribe: I see you. I appreciate you. And I know I wouldn’t be here without you.
