Debut Pro Solo 🔓
As a low endurance athlete: my mind and body continued to do wonders beyond what I can imagine in a hybrid race leaning towards endurance capacity. The work is not done at Hyrox, 12s behind my goal timing but we gonna continue building that capacity! And yes I had fun, the fun was in the PAIN 🙈

Stoked with the debut results:
AG: 4/16
Overall: 42/121

Most importantly, I’ll never take this support for granted. To my friends: I couldn’t even look up because I was redlining so hard, but your screams pushed me through one step at a time. Thank you for being my fuel 🥹 @riszlau @mishmashmooshhh @fadz_sam @will.fitnesslog @s.y.wolf_ts @meihui_11

Winning is a team sport!

Hyrox Hong Kong 2026
Team Relay Mixed 🥉
AG: 3
Overall: 14

The podium was the goal, but the real WIN was the experience behind it.

Watching Mich and Jia Yean cheered until they almost lost their voices, then waiting patiently to celebrate with us while we collected our flags 🥹

Thrilled for Fadz securing his first flag this szn; Big shoutout to Shana and Ada for being the ultimate help and making sure he could race safely on those legs!

Definitely one for the archives. Couldn’t stop smiling because the whole atmosphere was absolutely electrifying.

A party + a PB, this is what the privilege of running feels like. Thank you @nikerunning for the best race experience to date 🥹

My target this year was sub-1:50, but I kept this running block relatively short because I wanted to experiment with a few strategies from different running coaches and see what I could learn from them.

Turns out, my body responds better to a more conservative build. As a female athlete following programming from a male coach, I’ve also learnt that I need to make room for my cycle and recognise that my recovery needs may look different from my male counterparts.

Less aggressive doesn’t mean less effective for me, having a little more space to recover actually works better. Another lesson to take into the next block. 🫡

Shaved 3 minutes off my previous record, and I’ll take that PB anytime, sub-1:55 baby WOOHOO!

Wearing @anya.active 🖤🩵

• Revitalise Bra in Black Sesame
• Race Pocket Shorts in Bolt

Life-changing shorts gifted by @r.chxls because I managed to carry my phone, Insta360, 3 gels, lip balm AND sweets in all 5 pockets 😂

Basically ran a half marathon with my entire inventory on me #anyaactive #running #run

HM is still my favourite distance to race. Long enough to settle into a nice rhythm and actually enjoy it, but without the lung-burning sufferfest that is a 10K…

* My wish to make peace with all the race distances next year and pull a photogenic @jarininja every single run race 😬

With buildings messing up the GPS, endless turns, in & outs + almost 400m of stairs 😅 I decided to race by effort instead. Pretty cool to see that my body actually recognised the pace I’ve been training at without me constantly checking my watch.

Quite happy with how the pacing naturally worked itself out with 5K blocks negative splits:
5:32 ➡️ 5:24 ➡️ 5:24 ➡️ 5:24 ➡️ 5:21 ➡️ 4:14/km

COACH NOTE: This is why I always tell my clients to stick to their assigned paces in training. Do it enough and your body starts to recognise the rhythm. When race day gets messy, you can trust taken in Sydney by @ms.yeap

Running is never easy, and there’s no easy way out. But when you have a goal in mind, every step becomes a chance to challenge yourself, push your limits, and see what you’re truly capable of. 🏃‍♀️

Set the goal. Take the challenge. Put yourself to the test. And keep moving. 💪

Nike is a marketing genius. Keep the entry fee affordable at $100, make the ladies happy with all the goodies and experience… and watch us happily splurge on the merch after. Nike understands girl math way too well 😂

Not your typical half marathon. It almost felt like a trail-ish course with the constant turns, dark corners, slippery concrete, puddles, endless wet stairs going up and down (why were there stairs?! 😂), zig-zagging from pavement to ground, and avoiding puddles through sandy and grassy sections.

To be fair, some of this was completely beyond the organisers’ control. The rain and weather definitely made the course more challenging.

There were a few times I thought I was going to slip, but thank God my core, legs and NB SC Elite v5 👟 held up. Great shoes btw!

Rain in my face made visibility limited, clothes were completely soaked in the cold wind, and half the time I was wondering what the next Nike installation ahead was so I could get my Insta360 ready.

Definitely not a course where you just lock into a pace and cruise. There was always something coming but I genuinely enjoyed the whole experience. Overall, I’ll take all of this over Singapore humidity 100%.

Half Marathon PB 🏆

Shaved 3mins from my previous record in 2024! This block I only had 4 weeks of HM focus training and almost gave @kevinsohgj a heart attack 😂

Next year we do a proper build and aim for sub 1.50 👌

Look out for my next post on the Nike After Dark Tour experience and whether the finisher medal is worth your sign up!

As a beginner runner, I did strictly Zone 2 runs for almost 3 years.

This year I approached it a little differently.

This is NOT an absolute coaching message. Just my perspective as a hybrid enthusiast who runs and lifts.

1. Hybrids generally carry more muscle

More muscle means more weight to move when running, which can increase the energy and oxygen needed at the same pace.

So comparing our pace and HR directly with a pure endurance runner may not always make sense.

2. Singapore heat + humidity

It makes staying strictly in Zone 2 exceptionally hard, unless you’ve already built a very strong aerobic base like a well-trained endurance athlete.

As a hybrid, my peak mileage is only around 35–40km/week. I’m not running 70–100km every week building that kind of aerobic base.

Add Singapore humidity and HR drift into the picture and sometimes staying strictly within a HR number means running unnecessarily slow.

3. If you love Zone 2, continue doing it

But if you’re already dreading your long runs because you’re constantly trying to stay within a HR zone, try the talk test OR run by effort instead.

Can you still talk comfortably in full sentences?

Is your breathing controlled?

Does the pace feel sustainable?

Don’t let your watch cage you.

4. I am NOT against Zone 2

In fact, all my clients who are new to running start with Zone 2.

You need to learn the foundation and understand what an easy run actually feels like first.

Once you understand the basics, then you can make an informed decision on how you want to train.

Zone 2 is still a tool. It just doesn’t have to be the ONLY tool.
