POSTS STORIES REELS

Six months ago my entire goal was to get back into prep so I could step back on stage... and I even said "I dont care if I place".

I had gone through a season of turmoil from the day the hurricanes crashed into Tampa Bay to a year later when I spent every day for six weeks walking my bestfriend through an unfortunately familiar experience for me... her widow journey.

When I came home I felt this deep fire in my belly to take control over my life and went to something that is familiar and in some ways robotic.

You see to survive prep, you almost have to become a machine:
Every meal = planned
Every workout = planned
Every hour of my daily routine = planned.

Getting results to win was icing on the cake. I wanted to get back on stage, but I understood that the time I took off would come at a cost... and although I won my class, I paid.

I got 2nd in Masters 35+ which put me just short of my pro card, my ultimate goal. I fought for my pro card in the overall, but ultimately it went to the same competitor who beat me in Masters.

Its taken me a few days (& lots of tears) to just accept the reality, I was so close to winning my pro card.

There were definitely challenges behind the scenes (and backstage)... the show ran several hours behind, leaving me under nourished, fatigued and not at my peak. My coach was unable to be there last minute, and my cheering section slowly diminished as the timing was so off they couldn’t stay until 9pm… but we truly believe what I brought to the stage was the best package I’ve brought so far!

I am looking forward to getting the judges feedback to find out why I missed it by "that much"🤏

In the meantime, if you have wished me congratulations and my response has felt a little off, just know I am trying to shake it off and celebrate my win... 1st in my class! Two and a half years ago at my first show, winning first in my class was my dream that I just barely missed.

We will see what is next, but I definitely know this was not my last show.

My dad has always believed that the ultimate birthday gift would be someone proposing to me on my actual birthday. As if my birthday on New Year's Eve wasn't already enough of a celebration!

Last year, I rang in my birthday on a South American cruise surrounded by family. It was everything I could have hoped for, minus one crucial element—my partner couldn't make it.

This past year, I was relentless. I told my partner again and again how incredible it would be to celebrate my birthday on a cruise, with him by my side. After months of persistent reminders, we finally made it happen.

Somewhere in the middle of the Gulf of "Whatever," en route to Cozumel, all dressed up for New Years formal night, he led me to the grand staircase for pictures, he got down on one knee and proposed.

What made the moment even more special was the ring. My dad had actually sent my fiancé my mom's first ring to propose with, as we hadn't yet settled on one for me. It felt like my fiancé—and my dad's orchestration—had conspired to give me the most unforgettable birthday imaginable.

So there I was, on a cruise ship, celebrating not only another year of life but the beginning of a lifetime with my future husband. This New Year's Eve wasn't just a birthay party; it was the start of my next greatest adventure.

If you are looking for a place with class and style, where you can dress up like you’re on the set of #Bridgerton and nobody bats an eye, while you are simultaneously tantalized by the tastes and smells of high quality and delicious teas, @josephs_tea is the place you want to be.

Tell them Ms Elāna sent you!

What’s your favorite type of tea? I bet they have it...

Stop shrinking yourself to fit into spaces you’ve outgrown.

It is far better to be disliked for who you truly are than loved for a version of yourself you had to fake. The moment you step into your full authenticity, you naturally filter out the wrong people and make space for the ones who align with your genuine energy.

Save this as a daily reminder to choose yourself, every single time 🤍

It’s interesting how Halloween gives us permission to dress up, experiment, and become someone completely different for a night. But what if there’s a little truth behind that?

How often do we hold back parts of ourselves because we’re worried about being judged? How often do we play a role because it’s easier to be who people expect us to be than to show up as we really are?

Maybe the real freedom isn’t in putting on a costume. It’s in getting comfortable enough to take one off.

You don’t have to keep performing a version of yourself just to make other people comfortable.

The right people won’t need you to pretend.

And that’s a much better kind of freedom.

There’s still time for things to get better in ways you couldn’t have planned for.

For the right opportunities to find you, for the answers you’ve been waiting on to finally come, for unexpected blessings to change your perspective, and for things that once felt uncertain to start making sense.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before the year ends. Some things take time, some things need to fall away, and some of the best moments happen when you least expect them.

Here’s to ending the year with a lighter heart, a little more faith, and reasons to be grateful that we never could have predicted.

May the last few months surprise us in the most beautiful ways.

While exploring the Oregon coast, I stopped at the Umpqua River Lighthouse, which has been standing since 1894.

132 years. Think about how much has happened in that time.

How many storms have come and gone? How many people have stood in that same spot worrying about things that probably never even happened?

It made me think about how easily we let little things steal our joy.

A bad day. Someone else’s opinion. Plans not going the way we expected.

I’m certainly guilty of it, too.

One thing I’ve learned from everything life has thrown my way is that so much of what feels like a big deal in the moment eventually becomes something we barely remember.

I want to spend more of my life actually living it and less time worrying about things I can’t control.

Sometimes all it takes is a little change of scenery to remember what really matters. ☀️

I’ve had plenty of experiences in life that could have made me bitter, guarded, or afraid to trust people again.

There have definitely been times when I’ve questioned whether being so open, trusting, and hopeful was doing me any favors.

Yet somehow, after everything, I still believe people are generally good. I still believe in love. I still get excited about the little things, and I still think there’s so much beauty in this world worth experiencing.

That doesn’t mean I’m naive or that I haven’t learned some hard lessons along the way.

I just refuse to let the difficult parts of my story determine how I experience the rest of it.

I think that’s part of why I love exploring and experiencing new places so much. There’s always something new to see, something to appreciate, or another reason to be grateful for the life I’m living.

Sometimes it’s a big adventure. Sometimes it’s sitting on a porch in Oregon, drinking coffee, enjoying the view, with the man I’m going to marry sitting beside me.

After everything life has thrown my way, I still want to believe the best is yet to come.

If that makes me a fool, I’m perfectly happy being one. 💗

Apparently, I repel people. 😂

No, seriously. It’s literally written into my Human Design.

When I first learned that, I was like, well, that explains a few things. 🤣

I’ve always had a pretty strong personality. I’m independent, opinionated, and I’ve never been particularly good at doing things just because that’s how everyone else does them.

I also genuinely love people. I love making people laugh, encouraging them, celebrating their wins, and finding the good in just about any situation.

I think that’s what makes the whole thing so interesting to me.

How can someone who genuinely wants to be a ray of sunshine rub so many people the wrong way?

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about that.

The reality is, not everyone is going to understand me. Some people are going to love my energy, and other people are going to find that exact same energy annoying.

I can reflect on how I show up, take accountability when I need to, and still accept that I’m not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.

I’m not interested in spending my life trying to figure out how to make everyone like me.

I’d much rather spend that energy loving the people who love me, enjoying the experiences this life has to offer, and continuing to find reasons to smile.

So yeah, maybe I repel people.

Good thing these love glasses came with a pretty great filter. 💗

Apparently, moving across the country comes with a lifetime subscription to airline tickets. 😂

When I moved to Tampa, everyone I loved was back in California, so I knew flying home would become a regular part of my life. What I didn’t expect was for everyone to start spreading out even more! In the last year alone, I’ve made countless trips to California, plus visits to Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Arizona, and most recently Oregon. At this point, I should probably just keep a suitcase packed. Not that I’m complaining. I’ll take just about any excuse to hop on a plane!

Some of my most cherished memories are from international travel, but the more I explore the United States, the more I appreciate how much beauty we have right here. From the mountains to the coastlines and all the little towns in between, there’s so much to see. Even better when the reason for going is someone you love.

I may not be able to afford all the designer things, but I’ve been fortunate enough to collect experiences that mean the world to me. I’ve always been someone who wants to see things for myself rather than just hear about them. There’s something about exploring a new place, meeting people, and experiencing different ways of life that I never get tired of. I think that curiosity is just part of who I am, and I hope I never lose it.

Although, I have to admit, experiencing first class every now and then with my fiancé has been a pretty nice bonus. 😂

Life has taught me that things don’t always go according to plan, and sometimes the plan falls apart completely. But somehow, I always find a way forward.

I’ve had to start over, change direction, let go of things I thought were meant for me, and figure things out when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. And every time, I’ve learned that I can handle more than I give myself credit for.

That’s the thing about resilience. It’s not about having a perfect plan or never getting knocked off course. It’s about trusting yourself enough to know that even when life takes an unexpected turn, you can adapt, rebuild, and create something good out of what comes next.

I’ll figure it out. I always do.

Imagine having your own life to live and still finding the time to keep tabs on mine. The dedication is honestly impressive.

People will always have something to say, and I’m learning to take it less seriously. Not every opinion deserves a response, and not every assumption deserves a correction.

So go ahead and come up with your theories. I’ll be over here living my life, minding my business, and giving you absolutely no new material to work with.
