Welcome to the Morningside family, President Chad Benson! 🫘

Last night, our new president was welcomed the Morningside way: a shower of beans. The tradition dates back to March 26, 1911, when President Luther Freeman stood at the chapel rostrum and asked for “blessings from above.” Right on cue, beans poured down from the ventilator overhead. A year later, President Craig got his own shower, thanks to an alarm clock, a pan, a piece of string, and an old hurdle. And by the end of the decade, a beloved tradition was born. When you can laugh together, you can lead together. That’s the Morningside way. taken in Morningside University by @msideupres

It was a privilege to spend time with fellow Morningside alumni & friends at the Snoot-Jake-Whip Open in Okoboji this summer!

What began as a way for a group of Morningside friends to stay connected has grown into a meaningful tradition centered on friendship, remembrance, and giving back to the next generation of Morningside students.

Grateful to be part of a weekend that is such a great example of the lifelong relationships that make Morningside special. ⛳️ by @msideupres

Honored to accept the United Way of Siouxland’s 2026 Large Business of the Year Award on behalf of Morningside University.

This recognition belongs to our people. As a nonprofit institution, the impact we make in Siouxland comes through the generosity, service, and participation of our faculty and staff. They don’t simply teach our students the importance of ethical leadership and civic responsibility—they model those values every day.

I’m incredibly proud of the way the Morningside community continues to show up for Siouxland and grateful to the United Way of Siouxland for the extraordinary work they do for individuals and families across our community.

This award is a reflection of what it means to be a good neighbor. Congratulations, Morningside and thank you to everyone who helped make this recognition possible! by @msideupres
